5 Places To Visit In Anaheim, California
Between the major cities of San Diego and Los Angeles lies Anaheim, California. Originally, Anaheim was a large community made up mostly of farmers and their orange groves. In 1955, Anaheim experienced tremendous growth, due in large part to the opening of Disneyland. Today, Anaheim is a business and leisure destination, since the city is home to multiple theme parks and an enormous convention center. This Orange County, California, city has lots to offer, but here are five places that are worth a visit while in Anaheim.
1. Disneyland Park
One of Anaheim’s biggest draws is Disneyland Park. Disneyland was the first Disney theme park, built and designed entirely by Walt Disney. Visit the Haunted Mansion, ride Hyperspace Mountain, take a picture in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, or explore Minnie and Mickey’s homes. Stick around the park until nightfall to see the Main Street Electrical Parade and fireworks. California is notorious for traffic. Skip the city’s rush hours by staying at an IHG hotel near the Anaheim Convention Center and Disneyland Park.
2. Anaheim Packing District
Anaheim’s Packing District is at the intersection of Anaheim Boulevard and Santa Ana Street. This restored area gives the community a place to eat great food and hear live music. The Restored Packing House is home to cafés and picnic areas, while Farmers Park operates as an outdoor marketplace. Unami Burger and the Anaheim Brewery are inside the Historic Packing Building. The Packing District is open daily from 9 a.m. to midnight.
3. Disney’s California Adventure
Explore seven lands that bring Disney and Pixar stories and characters to life at Disney’s California Adventure. Ride the California Screamin’ rollercoaster, soar Around the World, practice your shooting skills at the Toy Story Midway Mania, or take the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Meet the cast of “Frozen,” superheroes, “Toy Story” characters, and Disney classics at Disney’s California Adventure.
4. Angel’s Stadium of Anaheim
This Los Angeles Angels baseball team plays in a $100-million stadium, renovated in 1998. The Angels are part of the MLB and the American League’s West division. The stadium offers a plethora of food options, including wings, hot dogs, specialty french fries, Jersey Mike’s Philly cheesesteaks, pizza, and more. Cocktails and beer are available, too. Ticket prices depend on the opponent, but some games start at just $14.
5. Downtown Disney
Downtown Disney is right beside Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure. Opt to eat lunch here before entering the parks or pick up a souvenir after Disneyland’s fireworks. There are 19 restaurants and 23 shops at the Downtown Disney District. Sports fanatics will love the ESPN Zone, while fans of “Frozen” will want to stop by Anna and Elsa’s Boutique. Parking for Downtown Disney is free for two hours or four with validation.
