Where the Locals Eat in Cozumel, Mexico: 4 Fabulous Must Try Restaurants

I was invited to a girls’ getaway in Cozumel, Mexico. My companions were fellow bloggers Sara, Suzanne, and Tam, who has lived in Cozumel for years. She knew all the cool places to go, and even arranged a special tasting event for us. Knowing the locals’ favorite eateries made all the difference between good and fantastic food. Check them these…where the locals eat in Cozumel!

Buccano’s at Night

Buccano’s at Night is the most lavish restaurant on the island. Located on the second floor of Buccano’s Beach Club, this swanky eatery offers picturesque waterfront views, incredible art, an intimate patio with a fire pit, and a stunning glass-enclosed open-air kitchen.

With its magnificent furnishings and fresh seafood, Buccano’s at Night is the epitome of dining in Cozumel, Mexico. Must-try dishes include Shrimp Pops, Snapper Tartare, Lobster Ravioli, Lobster Stack, and Buccanos Fish and Chips.

Guido’s Restaurant & Bar

Guido’s Restaurant & Bar is a vibrant and beautifully decorated establishment offering indoor and outdoor dining areas. Not to mention, they serve the best bread in town. Forget about counting carbs; indulge in it!

Don’t miss the opportunity to take home a piece of art from the walls if you find one you like. At Guido’s, you have the option to order half portions of our incredibly satisfying pasta dishes. This way, you can also enjoy an appetizer and salad. Choosing between them might be difficult because everything is so good.

Save room for our highly acclaimed soufflé. Recommended dishes at Guido’s include Chocolate Soufflé, Ravioli with Goat Cheese, Mushroom Fettuccine, and Pasta Carbonara.

La Cocay

Located in the heart of Cozumel, this upscale Mediterranean restaurant boasts tasteful decor adorned with lovely artwork. With friendly staff and impeccable service, our visit coincided with Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead), where a table was set aside for the “special guests.”

La Cocay’s exquisite food was surpassed only by its presentation, such as the fancy salad bundles secured with beet strips. Highly recommended dishes include the Duck Firecrackers, Florentina Salad, Cocay Chocolate Torte, Ricotta Ravioli, and Goat Cheese Empanaditas paired with mango chutney. I sampled them all.

Hours are 4 to 11 PM daily.

The Money Bar Beach Club

The Money Bar Beach Club is a popular choice for cruise visitors. Situated on the waterfront at Dzul-Ha Reef, this delightful restaurant serves beloved Mexican dishes and delicious burgers. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable. Recommended dishes include Chicken Nachos, French Fries, Fajitas/Tacos, and Bushwacker Drinks.

Pro Tip: You can also get fantastic Bushwackers in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Guests can also rent bikes, paddleboards, and snorkel gear here, or indulge in a spa treatment with an oceanfront view.

That is great! Yes, my daughter and husband are divers and we've been to Cozumel for just that reason in the past. I didn't realize how dynamite their food scene was until this trip though. Amazing local restaurants! Be sure to visit Buccanos, you can dive there as well and it is $15 admission to use the facilities. ;) Good luck.
