With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it is time to start making some plans! I have narrowed down your options by compiling a list of the best Valentine’s Day restaurants in Jackson, MS surrounding area (in no particular order). No matter what type of food you may be in the mood for, or what atmosphere you are after, my list has you covered.
Best Valentine’s Day Restaurants in Jackson, MS
1. Sombra Mexican Kitchen (140 Township Ave #100, Ridgeland, MS)
If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant with a fun atmosphere, delicious food, and top tier margaritas, Sombra is for you. Located in Ridgeland’s Township area, locally owned Sombra Mexican Kitchen “redefines Mississippi’s idea of a Mexican restaurant“. Sombra uses fresh ingredients, made-from-scratch tortillas, and each margarita consists of fresh squeezed lime juice and organic agave nectar. The margaritas are eye-catching and definitely of the best quality. Should straight tequila be more your style, Sombra has you covered! They have a whole page in their menu devoted to tequila shots and flights. Cheese dip is a staple at every Mexican restaurant and Sombra’s did not disappoint. It was a thick, spicy dip served with their seasoned home-made tortilla chips and was the perfect start to our visit. Sombra’s tamale’s are plated absolutely beautifully and tasted even better. In the event that you are in the mood for another type of food, I hear their Knife-and-Fork Baby Back Ribs are awesome. Although I know it will be hard, make sure to save room for dessert. Their Pecan Butter Crunch Cake is to die for! Served on a warm plate, topped with ice cream and tequila caramel sauce, General Manager Ken describes this dish as, “love on a plate.” Honestly, I would go to Sombra just to have dessert; it is that good.
2. Amerigo (6592 Old Canton Rd, Ridgeland, MS) (155 Market Street, Flowood, MS)
For a classic Italian meal, head to Amerigo, located in both Jackson and Flowood. The staff wears adorable ties and bow ties making your experience even more authentic. Guests start their meal with bread and oil mixed with lots of yummy herbs and spices. For an appetizer, I suggest Amerigo’s famous Cheese Fritters. They have been featured in Bon Appétit magazine and are incredibly popular. Narrowing down your entree will be difficult as Amerigo’s has a lot to choose from. During my visit, we opted for the Chicken Marsala (chicken breast over fettuccine with Marsala wine sauce, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts) and Chicken Margarite (chicken breast over angel hair pasta, mozzarella cheese, basil, and garlic butter sauce). Dishes are served very quickly! We dined at the new Flowood location and it is stunning. The furnishings are very traditional and give the restaurant a true Italian feel; even the bathroom is beautifully decorated. No matter which Amerigo location you choose to dine at, I am sure that you will have a wonderful meal.
3. Table 100 (100 Ridge Way, Flowood, MS)
Looking to really impress your significant other with Valentine’s dinner? Table 100 is the perfect place to do that. In fact, Table 100 is hosting a Valentine’s special preset menu, including Surf & Turf (shellfish and steak meal) and Baked Alaska (sponge cake and ice cream covered in meringue and flambéed-one of my favorite desserts of all time) served all weekend long. Their carefully selected menu combined with a romantic atmosphere and impeccable service makes Table 100 the ultimate Valentine’s Day destination.
Table 100, located in Flowood, is a dining experience like no other. With a “turn of the century New Orleans feel” and a “piano bar with craft cocktails, euro-american bistro fare, and hospitality second to none”, you are guaranteed to have an excellent meal. Chef Mike Römhild creates dishes that infuse all of his culinary experiences, bringing mind blowing plates to your table. According to server Jimmie, Table 100 has the best deviled eggs in Jackson! I would recommend the Tuna Sashimi as an appetizer because it is out-of-this-world and plated beautifully. But truthfully, everything that I saw come out of the kitchen looked great. As far as alcohol goes, Table 100 has a really cool wine system, craft beers, seasonal cocktails, and classic beverages. The welcoming environment from the entire staff is something that you will definitely not find anywhere else. It is easy to see why Table 100 has won so many awards in the Jackson area, including best restaurant, over the years.
4. Fratesi’s (910 Lake Harbour Drive, Ridgeland, MS)
Serving authentic Italian food for 25 years, Fratesi’s has been a staple in the Jackson area since it’s opening. In fact, it has consistently been ranked one of the best Italian restaurants in the area by The Jackson Free Press. With a cozy atmosphere, candlelit ambience, delicious food, and great service, it makes sense! Fratesi’s is truly authentic, checkered table cloths, Chanti bottle candle holders, music selection, and all. This is definitely a romantic spot for Valentine’s Day. Entrees are served with their yummy garlic bread and butter as well as a house salad. I recommend ordering their house Italian dressing as it is sold by the bottle it is so good. Fratesi’s homemade red and white sauces will make choosing your entree a challenge. I opted for the Chicken Parmesan and it was awesome. I also hear that their Seafood Lasagna is noteworthy. Should you opt to dine at home, you can order Fratesi’s food to go, by the pan. An Italian meal would not be complete without cannoli for dessert. Although the food is great, I absolutely loved the cozy feeling of the restaurant and how at home we felt. You may have to chew some mint gum when you leave, due to all of the garlic, but I promise you it is so worth it.
I hope my descriptions have allowed you to see why these are the best restaurants in Jackson, Mississippi for Valentine’s Day. No matter which one you choose to dine at, I am sure that you will have a great meal. Happy Valentine’s Day y’all!
