Why We Went: My friend Lynn and I were on a lunch date and wanted to try a new restaurant. Vero Beach’s newer foodie spot, Counter Culture, won our decision. Counter Culture is located on 14th Avenue, the main street in downtown Vero, and has free parking. I am still getting used to the ordering at a counter concept as I typically prefer table-service; but our service was quick and friendly.
**** As of June 2016, this restaurant was closed for business.
Something Special: Counter Culture has health-conscious food choices that make you feel better about dining out, no matter what you choose to eat. I loved seeing so many healthy and uncommon ingredients on their menu, many that I was unfamiliar with.
Noteworthy: I liked the flavored tea choices, plus refills are free.
Best Part of the Meal: Lynn’s cheeseburger looked tasty and she loved it! It was juicy and the cheddar cheese was melted perfectly; I wish I had ordered it after seeing it. The fries were hand-cut and delicious as well.
Bonus: Counter Culture is decorated so cute! Second bonus, the side dishes are definitely intriguing with items such as brussels & bacon, cauliflower mash, and roasted beets & feta.
What Needs Improvement: This is not the first restaurant in this location and like the ones in the past, the sound is deafening. It is very hard to make conversation over the noise and conversations going on within the restaurant. Counter Culture is definitely not for groups, but the perfect choice for an intimate get together.
