My name is Melody and I am a cruiser, as in, it is my favorite thing to do. The way I choose to enjoy the high seas is by sailing with Princess Cruises. Princess truly has something for everyone. One thing I love about Princess Cruise Line is the fact that the ship’s layout and deck names pretty much stay the same from ship to ship, which makes it familiar for repeat cruisers. Become a member of the Captain’s Circle to obtain perks for travel as well as an invitation to a special cocktail reception. There are four levels of membership and I am at the third or platinum level. With this my perks include a cruise atlas, preferred check-in, and a free Internet package, which suits me just fine.
Reasons You Should Pick Princess Cruises
#3 and #4 Shopping at your Fingertips and The Princess Patter
Throughout your cruise, photographers will capture your memories in which you may purchase at the Photo Gallery. For shopping, the ship’s Promenade Galleria has boutiques selling souvenirs, jewelry, clothing, and sundries, among other things. The ship will post special shopping deals every day but keep in mind that the shops are only open when the boat is at sea. The Princess Patter is the daily newsletter that will be your saving grace throughout the cruise. I am guilty of racing back to my stateroom after dinner to pick up the Patter to start planning tomorrows activities.
#5 and #6 Water Activities and Dare to Pamper Yourself
Princess ships have a large number of pools and hot tubs. The main pool is typically called Calypso Pool and Reef. I find the smaller pool at the back of the boat is usually the least crowded. The Lotus Spa, featuring Elemis and La Therapie products, is top notch and offers a menu of pampering options including facials, body massage and treatments, and hair/nail treatments. The spa’s technicians are trained at the prestigious Steiner Training Academy and are incredibly talented. The Sanctuary, a retreat for adults only, offers plush lounge chairs, spa fare healthy menu, signature drinks, and dynamic views.
Typical places for nighttime activities, drinking cocktails, and listening to music are the Crooners Bar, Vines Bar, Wheelhouse Bar, Club Fusion, and the Explorers Lounge. Skywalkers Nightclub, a discotheque, is located on the top floor glass-front extension across the boat, and is always a good time. Movies Under The Stars, created by Princess itself, features a 300 square foot projector screen outside near the pool, where you can watch movies or music concerts, munch on popcorn or warm cookies & milk, and stay warm with the blankets they provide.
#9 Be Entertained
All Hours of the Day and NighThe center atrium of the ship typically spans several decks. It features many live ongoing activities, as well as the International Cafe, Vines Bar, a spiral staircase, and panoramic views of the ship. The art auctions are a big draw and they feature educational chats and seminars regarding the artists and pieces plus a staffed art connoisseur is available to answer any questions you may have. The Art Auction offers free champagne, therefore I am not sure if the attendees are truly interested in art or are there just for the free champagne. Each boat has a video arcade, a jogging track, and a state of the art fitness center.
FYI: Read about Princess Cruises’ awards so you see for yourself why I am biased.
