Walt Disney World is full of things to see and do, often overwhelming guests. Whether you need help planning your vacation, saving money at the parks, or getting to do as much as possible during your time at Disney, we have 17 pieces of advice for you. Here are your Disney World Hacks.
Disney World Hacks
Any meal can be ordered without a side
Meals/sandwiches on counter service menus can be ordered without a side to save money.
Book FastPasses in advance
When Disney is really busy, you will not be able to score a FastPass the day of your visit for popular rides. Reservations can be made 30-60 days in advance (depending on if you are an Annual Passholder, staying on property, or just coming for the day) so I recommend making your FastPass selections ASAP.
Look into purchasing a dining plan
Disney offers many meal plans for those staying on property. Definitely consider purchasing one if you are traveling as a family. Majority of the restaurants at the parks accept the dining plan and the food available is plentiful.
Use the Disney World app
Download the Disney app and create an account before you visit the park. The app will keep track of all reservations and FastPasses, making staying on track all day easy. It also allows you to view wait times for every attraction in the park and provides a list of character meet and greets and their locations throughout the day.
Opt for single rider lines
People in these lines are pulled to fill empty seats, making this line move much quicker than the regular line. Single rider lines are available at Test Track, Expedition Everest, and Rock N Rollercoaster.
Disney provides free Wi-Fi
Cell phone service does not always work properly since Disney is so busy. But have no fear! All four parks have free Wi-Fi available for their guests to use.
Get to the park early
Ride wait times are shortest first thing in the morning. Pick an attraction to visit when you get to the park so that your wait will be short and you can save a FastPass for another ride at a busier time.
Get a special occasion button
Disney World gives out special occasion buttons to make guests feel extra special during their visit. Check with Guest Services for buttons/button locations. The special occasion buttons available are: happy birthday, my magical triumph, just engaged, happily ever after, first visit, I’m celebrating, just married, happy anniversary, and family reunion.
Buy glow sticks from the Dollar Store or Michael’s
This is a trick so that your kids can have glow sticks for the nightly parades and you do not have to spend big bucks buying the ones sold at the park.
Think outside the box
Do not limit your dining choices to one single Disney park, because their free transportation will take you to any Disney property. Consider having lunch at a Disney hotel; you can get a change of scenery, enjoy the air condition, and take a break from walking around the park.
Make restaurant reservations ahead of time
Most sit down restaurants at the parks fill up weeks in advance. Make these reservations as soon as you know you are going to Disney and have purchased your tickets. Reservations can be canceled up to 24 hours in advance. You will be charged a fee, per person, if you miss your reservation.
Purchase Disney accessories from Etsy
This is my favorite on the list of Disney World Hacks. You can buy stickers to personalize your Magic Band and custom Minnie ears so you will not be wearing the same thing as everyone else in the park. My favorite place to purchase Disney items is the popular website Etsy. Processing and shipping times can take a lot of time, so be sure to buy your Disney stuff well before your trip.
Consider renting a locker
You will not have to carry your things around all day but your stuff is still on site.
Take advantage of free concerts
Epcot’s special event concerts are free (Food and Wine Festival, Flower and Garden Show). This is a great way to take a break and see a classic band, at no extra charge.
Have purchases sent to your room
If you are staying on Disney property, any purchases made at the parks can be sent to your room. This way you will not have to carry them around all day.
Cast members will take pictures on your phone
Whether meeting a character or getting your picture made in front of the castle, Disney cast members will take pictures on your phone or camera; all you have to do is ask. While the pictures on the PhotoPass are generally much better and of higher quality, this is a quick way to upload a picture to Instagram.
