Located right off of Lakeland Drive, in the heart of Flowood, Mississippi, is Ichiban Grill and Sushi. This Asian restaurant strives to serve the best food in a spacious setting with metropolitan resort decor. Owners Kam and Ling strive for excellence, and I think they have achieved that. In fact, Ichiban Grill and Sushi is one of mine and my boyfriend Blake’s favorite restaurants in the area.
Ichiban Grill and Sushi
Why We Went: It was New Years Day and before we start watching what we eat in 2016, Blake and I decided to treat ourselves.
What We Had: For an appetizer, Blake and I had cheese wontons, which were filled with cream cheese and served with sweet and sour sauce. They are always perfect! For dinner, I ordered my usual chicken and steamed rice, along with a big side of teriyaki sauce, and Blake decided on the create your own combo and opted for steak, tuna, and traditional fried rice. All hibachi dinners are served with vegetables, rice, soup, salad, and their signature pink sauce.
Something Special: If you like hand rolled sushi, you should definitely check out Ichiban. They have a huge list of sushi rolls available.
Noteworthy: Jimmy is our favorite chef. He not only puts on a great cooking show that is sure to entertain everyone at the table, but he also cooks our food to perfection every time.
Best Part of the Meal: Definitely our cheese wontons.
Bonus: Ichiban has a beautiful bar that serves custom made drinks and it is usually packed. We knew we picked a slow day to come and eat when their bar was virtually empty.
What Needs Improvement: Due to the hibachi seating, you can sometimes end up waiting a long time for more people to join your table before the chef will start cooking. Luckily for us, this was not an issue during our visit.
Total Check Before Tip: $57.77 Hibachi is generally pricy, but we were treating ourselves!
