Why We Went: This month my book club group chose the Garage Woodfired Pizza and Pub, in downtown Vero Beach to be our lunch spot. I was excited to go since I had not yet been, plus I loved the menu choices from browsing their website.
What We Had: The Margherita pizza, side wedge salads, turkey & brie melts, and Cobb salad.
Something Special: The Cobb salad with egg, gorgonzola, cannellini beans, tomato, bacon, and avocado (added chicken as well), drizzled with bleu cheese dressing, looked divine! It was enough for my friend to enjoy for lunch and take half home for dinner. The salad was $10, reasonable for Vero, and all the salad menu choices were available in half orders for $6, a really nice option.
Noteworthy: Garage’s pizza looked scrumptious and one of our ladies, who eats there often, raved about how good they are.
Best Part of the Meal: The turkey & brie melt was fabulous! Not too big, not too small, pleasantly priced (by Vero Beach standards) and the thin spread of raspberry pepper jam gave the sandwich a kick and added sweet flavor.
Bonus: They sell t-shirts! I love buying local t-shirts from places I have visited or like going to.
What Needs Improvement: The Green Goddess dressing does not work for me on a traditional wedge salad. Though the dressing was flavorful and original, it did not mix well with the sour tomatoes and bitterness of the lettuce.
Total Check Before Tip: $17.10
