Kata Restaurant and Lounge is an Asian restaurant in Vero Beach, Florida, that is close to my house (yeah for me!) and that serves delicious entrees and sushi. They specialize in Thai, Japanese, Sushi, and Vietnamese fare. I ate at Kata Restaurant with my family for dinner. We received gracious service and landed a comfortable table in the main dining room where we could see the chefs rolling sushi.
Kata has Bento Boxes!!
We typically go to Kata Restaurant to enjoy Bento boxes at lunch, but dinner gave us the excuse to share appetizers and choose from mega dinner options. We began with Spring Rolls, Pork Laab, and Curry Puff appetizers. On this visit, I chose a creamy Thai tea to drink. Our appetizers arrived hot and delicious. The Laab was scrumptious and served with crisp lettuce leaves.
Kata’s dinners are reasonably priced, huge portions, and often big enough to share. Most dinners start with a choice of Miso soup or salad. The salad is topped with their homemade ginger dressing, which is much different than those I have had at other Asian restaurants. It is very tangy with lots of fresh ginger and what seems like big shreds of orange peel. I like it, but it is unusual.
Between the six of us, we tried the Chicken Teriyaki, Shrimp Tempura, Seafood Tempura, Chicken Massaman Curry, and the Garlic Chicken & Broccoli. Kata has every “roll”, imaginable on their menu, though we did not chose that this time.
I Love a Good Tempura Dish!
All of our dinners came out looking picture perfect. The tempura dishes were light and crispy, not one bit greasy. The meat pieces were paired with battered vegetable slices; they were my favorites.
The Massaman Curry dish was simmered with big hunks of sweet potatoes, cashews, and onions alongside the chicken. Sticky rice accompanied it. My daughters tried the Chicken Teriyaki, but were not very fond of it as it is much different than the kind they are used to, The chicken’s sauce was thicker and richer than traditional teriyaki sauces.
Based on the wide range of food choices, dependable and friendly service, and prices, we will definitely be back to Kata.
