Why We Went: I had read about the remodeling and grand opening of Boquete, Panama’s La Brûlerie Restaurant and could not wait to see for myself. La Brûlerie is hands down the most gorgeous spot in all of Boquete to see the flowers, birds, mountains, and the spectacular nature views. I recommend getting there early before the clouds and rain move in for optimal viewing pleasure.
What We Had: The breakfast menu was limited to only five things so four of our group had different varieties of omelets; while my husband, Eddie, ordered Huevos Rancheros.
Something Special: The hanging mason jar light fixtures are ingenious- I loved them! I bet that at nighttime it looks like fireflies twinkling inside the restaurant. In fact, the entire restaurant is modern and hip! All of the decor is so chic and elaborate, yet functional.
Noteworthy: The waiter was extremely friendly and we had very good service. We gave our waiter several special instructions for our breakfast dishes and even though he did not write them down, they all came out correctly. He was doing everything possible to keep us happy and serve us to the best of his ability.
Best Part of the Meal: The Hojaldras (Panamanian fry bread) was sweet and fried to perfection, light and airy; the best I have had in Panama. We requested orange marmalade to pair it with. Delicious!
Bonus: The coffee is grown, harvested, roasted, and brewed on location.
What Needs Improvement: La Brûlerie’s menu is very limited for breakfast and they need some sandwich choices or lighter options for lunch, but that may be coming as it is only days since reopening. They also need to do something about the huge swarms of flies inside the restaurant.
My Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)= 8 1/2
