Restaurante Mango, both stylish and sleek, is a beautiful restaurant adjacent to the Hotel Isla Verde in the heart of Boquete. Local artwork adorns the walls and is for sale as well as enjoyable to look at. Their menu is sophisticated and the decor is artsy and colorful. Eddie’s favorite thing (my husband) is that Mango offers woodstone oven-baked pizzas full of fresh, local ingredients. They also serve local microbrews.
*** Unfortunately this restaurant is now closed for business.
We recently ate lunch at Restaurante Mango and sat outside on their beautiful terrace. I started my meal with the lentil/curry/coconut soup. Was it ever delicious! I seriously thought about licking the bowl it was so good!
For the main courses, my husband chose the Vietnamese Chicken Wings and I had the Cobb Salad. The wings were served in a huge bowl and the sauce was luscious. No pun intended in saying they were finger lickin’ good. The Cobb Salad was a bowl of greens with a very small portion of bacon, cheese, tomato, perhaps 2-3 tablespoons of chicken, and avocado. The salad itself was filling and yummy, all the vegetables were super fresh and crisp; however, the red wine vinaigrette was not a good choice for me considering the bitter flavoring of the lettuces used. I would have preferred a creamy dressing for this particular salad but it was still decent. Having dined at Mango in the past, I would highly recommend the perfectly spiced Pork Loin Vindaloo or the Curried Vegan Rice Noodles. YUM!
All in all, Restaurante Mango is one of the best restaurants in Boquete. The service is slow, par for the course in Boquete, but I like doing business here and feel the food is made with healthy ingredients and no shortcuts. Foodies would rank this the best of Boquete.
Note: The restaurant does take reservations for parties of five or more.
Note: Mango is closed on Mondays. They offer a brunch on Sunday from 10-3PM.
