My friend, Lynne, and I stopped by Mimi’s Cafe in Melbourne, Florida (The Avenue Viera), for a quick french-inspired dinner. Mimi’s is only a short drive off the I-95 exit. We entered the lobby to an attentive hostess staff, nice decor, and welcoming atmosphere. We were promptly seated and given menus. It is not often that I would like or could possibly order anything from the menu, but here I could easily do so. There was a large price difference between items so it was fitting for any budget. Many were also many options for vegetarians.

After our drinks arrived, Lynne selected the Bacon & Bleu Cheese Salad and I, the Roasted Chicken Crêpes as our dinner options. Our waitress brought us a basket of fresh baked bread loaves and sliced spice bread, along with creamy wonderful butter to munch on while waiting on our entrees. The spice bread was a flavorful and an unusual option. We quickly devoured it; well done Mimi’s.
Our food arrived plated in a lovely fashion and with very generous portions. The Bacon & Blue Cheese Salad was topped with walnuts, dried cranberries, tomatoes, and fresh sliced strawberries, served with zesty balsamic vinaigrette. My crêpes looked so heavenly that I almost did not want to eat them; notice I said “almost”. The light and flavorful crêpes, stuffed with spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms, were finished off with a delicate Dijon Chardonnay sauce. A house salad tossed with red wine shallot vinaigrette was also included. The crêpes were sublime!
Mimi’s Cafe Food Photos: Drool-worthy!
Mimi’s Cafe’s dessert menu looked very tempting but we were passed. I only drank water with my meal so the entire check was $10.12. That was impressive for dinner in Florida, especially a meal so filling and of good quality. The only improvement I can see is that servers need to be more prompt in cashing out their customers.
I hope to visit Mimi’s Cafe again in the future and I am anxious to familiarize myself with their breakfast menu. Psst….they offer an appetizer of “seasoned deviled eggs”; how awesome does that sound? There are Mimi’s restaurants throughout 19 southern states.
