Why We Went: The 100-year-old luxury bed and breakfast “Panamonte Inn”, located in Boquete, Panama, has been owned by the same family for many years. The inn offers exemplary service, impressive food and menu options, as well as the most gorgeous setting and restaurant features in town. You may choose to dine in the Panamonte Inn’s elegant dining room, or in their Fireside Lounge which houses two lovely wood burning fireplaces that are roaring 365 days a year.
What We Had: For appetizers, Beef Carpaccio (the best in town) and off the nibbles menu, the Chicken Empanadas. The dinners we chose were Chicken Caesar Salads, Filet Mignon, and my girlfriend Pam and I shared both the Fettuccine with Short Ribs and caramelized onions, as well as the Tomato Risotto with Langoustines. We splurged!
Something Special: Save room because Panamonte Inn has scrumptious desserts. Their Lemon Meringue Pie is silky sweet and the Strawberries and Cream are a total hit!
Noteworthy: Get to Panamaonte early and land the seats in front of the fireplace. They also has a bar nibble menu and mix creative cocktails.
Best Part of the Meal: Panamonte’s pasta and risotto dishes were excellent! The fettuccine with short ribs was unique and incredibly rich in flavor. The sweetness of the onions balanced out the richness quite well.
Bonus: Panamonte Inn serves breakfast daily and brunch on weekends. Stop by on the weekend for Benedict’s and Mimosas. Their Swedish Pancakes with a side of strawberry purée are famous!
What Needs Improvement: I think a cocktail menu would be a nice touch, as well as adding thire menu to the website.
Total Check Before Tip: $127.06 (with tip/propina) for 4 of us plus 7 glasses of wine.
My Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)= 9 1/2
