Sombra Mexican Kitchen
140 Township Avenue #100
Ridgeland, MS 39157
Why We Went: My boyfriend, Blake, and I were trying out restaurants to add to my Best Valentine’s Day article. Although I included Sombra Mexican Kitchen in that article, I thought it was so good that it deserved a restaurant review too!
What We Had: I ordered the chicken quesadilla; a great choice. It was full of succulent grilled chicken. Blake opted for the tamale’s served with rice and beans. They came out beautifully plated and were delicious.
Something Special: Sombra Mexican Kitchen has a plethora of tequilas to taste, whether you opt to try them in shot form, as a flight, or in one of their hand-crafted margaritas. I do not order alcohol at restaurants very often, but this has become my favorite place to do so.
Noteworthy: The cheese dip is a great appetizer; thick and spicy, served with Sombra’s homemade tortilla chips. Together, they are a perfect combination.
Best Part of the Meal: Hands down the Pecan Butter Crunch Cake! It comes on a hot plate and is topped with tequila caramel sauce. You HAVE to try this dessert. It is killer.
Bonus: Sombra’s atmosphere is both fun and laid back. It is the perfect spot to have dinner with friends whether you just got off work or are going out for the evening.
What Needs Improvement: I cannot think of anything! The staff was so friendly and it was nice to see everyone helping out during Sombra’s busy lunch. We had great food and really good service.
My Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)= 9
