Sombra Mexican Kitchen
Why We Went: My boyfriend, Blake, and I were trying out restaurants to add to my Best Valentine’s Day article. Although I included Sombra Mexican Kitchen in that article, I thought it was so good that it deserved a restaurant review too!
What We Had: I ordered the chicken quesadillas which were a great choice. They were full of succulent grilled chicken. Blake opted for the tamale’s. They came out beautifully plated and were delicious. The tamale’s were also served with rice and beans.
Something Special: Sombra Mexican Kitchen has a plethora of tequilas to taste, whether you opt to try them in shot form, as a flight, or in one of their hand-crafted margaritas, which are superb. I do not order alcohol at restaurants very often, but this has become my favorite place to do so.
Noteworthy: The cheese dip is a great appetizer. It is thick and spicy served with their home-made seasoned tortilla chips. Together they are a perfect combination.
Best Part of the Meal: Hands down the Pecan Butter Crunch Cake! It is served on a hot plate and topped with tequila caramel sauce. You HAVE to try this dessert. It is killer. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Bonus: Sombra’s atmosphere is very fun and laid back. It is the perfect spot to have dinner with friends whether you just got off work or are going out for the evening.
What Needs Improvement: Honestly, I cannot think of anything. The entire staff was so friendly and it was nice to see everyone helping out during their busy lunch. We had great food and really good service.
