Soulshine Pizza Factory
Why We Went: To put it simply, we went because Soulshine is one of my favorite restaurants. I am a pizza fanatic and theirs is delicious. Although we get our food to go a lot of the time (my cabinets are full of their green to go cups to prove it), dining in is always a great experience. Soulshine has an incredibly laid back atmosphere, lots of “Soulful” paintings and memorabilia covering the walls, a bar that serves locally brewed beer, happy hour specials, and live music throughout the week.
What We Had: Soulshine has a large menu full of pizzas, calzones, po-boy’s, salads, and traditional Southern food. My boyfriend, Blake, tries something new every time we go, so he is especially fond of their wide variety to choose from. On this visit, he ordered the Alfredo Calzone (pictured below) which is served with a side of Alfredo dipping sauce. I am a creature of habit, so I do not branch out from my 8″ traditional cheese pizza. Then again, it is delicious and has never done me wrong, so why would I turn my back on it?
Something Special: They even offer gluten free crust, so everyone can enjoy their pizza!
Noteworthy: Soulshine has been voted as having the best pizza and hangover food, as well as being the best place to work, in Jackson, Mississippi.
Best Part of the Meal: Definitely my sweet tea. This is always one place that we splurge and get tea plus several refills.
Bonus: Soulshine has two other locations in Mississippi (Ridgeland, Oxford) and one in Tennessee (Nashville). I can proudly say that I have eaten at all four Soulshine locations, with my favorite being Nashville.
What Needs Improvement: Nothing. Soulshine is perfect.
