The Taco Dive is a Mexican-inspired eatery located in both Fort Pierce and Vero Beach, Florida. Their tantalizing menu is made up mostly of street tacos, but with creative recipe concoctions. While I have been enjoying the Fort Pierce location for quite some time, the new Vero Beach location on 14th Avenue brings a fun and fresh energy to downtown Vero. This is as fresh as it gets!
Clever taco options include BLT Dive Style (with Applewood bacon, fried egg, arugula, pimento cheese, and tomato), The Under Dog (all beef hot dog, cabbage, tomato, cucumber, jalapeño, queso fresca, spicy mustard, and onion), and the Irish (loaded up with corned beef, sautéed cabbage, spicy mustard, and tater tots!). My favorite is the Pork Taco: slow roasted flavorful pork, Thai sauce, cabbage, and pineapple. It is excellent! Also, any taco can be made a bowl option with black beans and rice for $4 extra.
Fresh salsa is plentiful at the Taco Dive. Guests can choose between mild, medium, or hot. The Taco Dive’s fresh made guacamole is a star menu item. As with any Mexican restaurant, ordering Queso Dip is a must. It was served warm with tortilla chips. Best of all, the queso had a nice kick to it. The Smothered Tots are another lip-smacking appetizer at the Taco Dive. These tots are crispy and golden brown, drenched with queso cheese dip and fresh diced jalapeños. Perfection!
For those craving fresher or healthier options, there are a few salad choices, including a kick-ass Taco Salad. Non-Mexican foodies (are there such people?) can choose from the Taco Dive’s BBQ Pork, Fresh Fish, or Hamburgers.
Be sure to check the Taco Dive’s Facebook page for daily specials. Salads and sandwiches are also on the menu.
