Dunedin is a cute, little town nestled on the Gulf Coast near Clearwater, Florida. It has charming restaurants and shops which we love visiting. After seeing the same places all of the time (because we are creatures of habit and enjoy going to places that we know are continually good), my husband, friends, and I decided to break out of our comfort zone and try something new, Marguerite’s Cafe.
Marguerite’s Cafe and Catering
Why We Went: During a visit to Dunedin to see friends, one of them suggested that we try Marguerite’s Cafe as she thought it looked cute. She was right because Marguerite’s has great curbside appeal.
What We Had: We ordered the Greek Omelet with a side of bacon and sausage patties, Eggs Benedict, French Toast with bacon, and the Quiche of the Day which happened to be Lorraine. They also offered three other quiche choices.
Something Special: The quiche was stellar! I am a big fan of quiche and this one was served in a homemade crust, with just the right ratio of ingredients to eggs. The dish was scrumptious and baked to perfection. Fresh fruit and roasted breakfast potatoes were paired with the quiche. It was a large amount of food for $9.99.
Noteworthy: The service at Marguerite’s was commendable (thanks, Rafe) and when people at a table next to us had an issue (we do not know what the issue was), the owner came over immediately and handled the situation in a most pleasant manner.
Best Part of the Meal: Everything was really exceptional at Marguerite’s, but the biggest stand out to me was the hollandaise sauce. It was light and pale in color with a hint of lemon juice. I sampled my husband’s Eggs Benedict and liked the hollandaise so much that I asked for some for my quiche. Yum!
Bonus: Enter the restaurant with caution, because the counter that you see inside the door is filled with gorgeous homemade pies, cookies, and cakes. A restaurant favorite, the Coconut Cream layered cake, looked as if it had come straight out of a Southern Living magazine. The pies were even more beautiful! We did not have room to try a piece but I will certainly be back again someday.
What Needs Improvement: My only improvement would be to switch to Coca-Cola rather than Pepsi. LOL
Total Check Before Tip: $48.39 for our party of four
