Located in the Belhaven neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi, is The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen. The chic and rustic decor give this place a big city feel although the menu is centered around Mediterranean cuisine with a Southern flair. After dining at The Manship, I can see why locals love this place!

Why We Went: After hearing rave reviews at work about The Manship, Blake (my fiancé) had been wanting to go there. We found ourselves in Downtown Jackson one afternoon and thought it was the perfect time to finally try this restaurant.
What We Had: I chose the Chicken Parmigiana sandwich and I am so glad that I did! My sandwich consisted of provolone and parmesan cheeses as well as San Marzano tomato sauce. I paired my sandwich with the truffle parmesan fries and OMG they were good. Blake had the Smoked Tuna Melt (provolone, arugula, red onion, lemon vinaigrette, and hydroponic tomato) which he loved. The tuna was actually home-made tuna salad and it was delicious. He chose the fire roasted cauliflower for his side.
Noteworthy: The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen has an enormous bar. Although it is very large size wise, the list of beer, cocktails, and wine was extensive. The Manship’s craft cocktails are based off of those from the Prohibition Era. It was really neat and I would love to go back for a drink sometime.
Best Part of the Meal: All of the ingredients used at The Manship are fresh and purchased locally. They have a sign on the wall listing all of the places where their supplies come from. I wish all restaurants would do this!
What Needs Improvement: More extensive menu descriptions would have been nice, especially since Blake was actually ordering a tuna salad sandwich.
