The Sofitel New York may be one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan. Its stellar accommodations come with an affordable price tag, great location, and impeccable service. My experience at the Sofitel was excellent!
About The Sofitel
I would describe the Sofitel as elegant, sophisticated, and luxurious. It is an ultimate posh retreat. The Sofitel New York has 398 rooms on 30 floors. French and local designs make up the hotel’s beautiful decor. The lobby is gorgeous to look at with marble on the floors and walls, eye-catching art, and sleek furniture. The Sofitel has an incredibly friendly staff, more than willing to help answer questions, make plans, and open doors. Meeting spaces and wedding planning are available at the Sofitel New York, too.
The Sofitel’s 23rd floor was our haven for the week. Access to the hotel’s floors required a keycard; a safety precaution that I very much appreciated. Typically, hotel rooms in New York City are very small and cramped, but we did not have that issue here. We were blown away by how spacious our room was. We had plenty of room to move around and store our luggage.
Our room had two Queen beds, which the Sofitel calls “Sobeds” (feather top beds covered with a duvet). They were heavenly! After a long day of pounding the pavement, we looked forward to sleeping in those beds each night. We also had a large flat-screen TV, sitting area, and tremendous views of the city. The marble bath was full of grandeur, with a deep soaking tub and separate glass shower. The Sofitel provided a high quality brand of toiletries, beautiful fresh orchids, complimentary wi-fi, and a high powered hair dryer, all of which were appreciated.
Although we did not utilize them, the Sofitel New York offers valet parking, room service, and a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center. The fitness center had bottled water, fruit, and prepackaged headphones available for guests.
Gaby Restaurant And Bar
The Sofitel has a French inspired restaurant, Gaby. Gaby looks very elegant, but we found it to be quite laid back and cozy. There is also a bar at Gaby, should you just want to stop in for a drink. The Theater District location makes it the perfect dinner stop before a Broadway show.
During our stay, we dined at Gaby and had impeccable service and exquisite food. We started with salads and bowl of rich French Onion Soup. The salads were zesty and flavorful, while the soup was the best that I had ever eaten. Our main entrées were Cold Water Maine Lobster and Vegetarian Lasagna. We ate every bite; both dishes were excellent. For dessert, we opted for the Chocolate Delice, Grand Marnier chocolate mousse served in a beautiful chocolate marbled cup. What a perfect way to end our meal! We wished that we had eaten at Gaby sooner into our stay so we could have gone back again; it was that good.
I Will Be Back To The Sofitel New York
I had the pleasure of staying at the Sofitel New York for nearly a week. This luxurious hotel made my trip much more enjoyable. The location was right in the middle of the action in Times Square and the Theater District, which saved my feet from extra walking and gave us something to do all hours of the night. After an impeccable visit, I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to New York City. New York City has so many hotels to choose from that I very rarely stay at the same place twice, but I will definitely return to the Sofitel during my future travels to New York City.

I was offered a discount for my accommodations from Sofitel. I was not compensated in any other form. Opinions and review are 100% mine.
