Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort
Cabana Bay is a Universal Resort in Orlando, Florida. With a Florida beach vibe from the 1950’s and 1960’s, guests will feel nostalgic when they stay here. Cabana Bay offers a variety of rooms, restaurants, and entertainment options for the whole family.
My mom (Melody) and I had the privilege of staying at Cabana Bay during a press trip in Orlando. With retro rooms, a bowling alley, pool, shuttle service to Universal Studios/City Walk, and lots of dining options, we could not have been happier with our accommodations. Cabana Bay was the perfect home away from home in Orlando!
From the art on the walls to the pattern on the comforters, everything is retro. The rooms are decorated in vibrant colors, making it a lively space. Guests will find Zest soap in the shower and an alarm clock by the bed; talk about throwbacks!
Cabana Bay offers two types of rooms: standard and family suites. The standard room is 300 square feet and has two queen beds, sleeping four. Family suites are 430 square feet sleeping up to six with two queen beds and a pull-out couch. There is plenty of room for everyone in a suite, which includes a sliding privacy partition and compartmentalized bathroom allowing multiple people to get ready at once. Upgrade to a poolside room for a more exciting view.
All rooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi, a coffee pot, iron and ironing board, in-room safe, kitchenette with a mini fridge and microwave, flat screen TVs, and a closet. Resort-wide charging privileges are available with your room key.
You will not run out of things to do while staying at Cabana Bay!
Start your day in the physical fitness studio or rec center. Shop for souvenirs and park apparel in the gift shop. Spend your evenings making s’mores over a fire pit, playing games in the arcade, or at Cabana Bay’s bowling alley, Galaxy Bowl.
Enjoy the Florida sunshine at one of Cabana Bay’s two pools, hot tub, water slide, lazy river, or kids splash pads. The resort provides poolside activities, even hosting a DJ on the weekends. Rent a luxurious cabana and enjoy having a TV, Wi-Fi, fan, refrigerator, bottled water, and a safe at you fingertips. At night, watch a Dive In movie by the pool, showing family favorites.
Meet some of Universal’s iconic characters when they visit the resort on Fridays.
Plethora Of Dining Choices
Cabana Bay is home to seven restaurants and bars. The Bayliner Diner is set up like a food court, offering several food stations. Eat at the diner or from the comfort of your room. The Hideaway Bar & Grill is conveniently located next to the lazy river while Atomic Tonic can be found on the Cabana Courtyard pool deck. Take a break from bowling to enjoy the Galaxy Bowl Restaurant. There is also a Starbucks and Swizzle Lounge serving retro cocktails. Not in the mood to leave your room? No problem! Delizioso Pizza will deliver to your room.
If you would like to go off property for dinner, Cabana Bay provides two options. From 6-10 PM, a shuttle runs to the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Royal Pacific Resort, and Sapphire Falls Resort so that you can dine at their restaurants. Your second option is to board the shuttle to Universal’s City Walk and enjoy dinner there. The City Walk shuttle runs until 2 AM, so stay and enjoy some nightlife afterwards.
This Universal Resort comes with a lot of perks. The biggest is the shuttle that runs from the hotel to the Universal City Walk/Universal Studios one hour before park opening until 2 AM. By staying at Cabana Bay, guests gain early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter one hour before the park opens. Enjoy exploring Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade without the crowds. Cabana Bay is also right next to Universal’s newest park, Volcano Bay, opening in May 2017. Staying here puts you in the heart of the Universal action.
Our Stay At Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort
At check-in, we were given a detailed map of the property and told how to find our room. Our room was in Building 6 of the Americana wing and overlooked the pool. Melody was ecstatic that Cabana Bay provided Zest soap; she sang the commercial song every chance that she got. Our beds were comfortable and we had more than enough space to move around.
On the day of our Universal Studios visit, my mom and I woke up, got ready, and hopped on the shuttle. We did not have to fight parking or traffic; it was wonderful! Taking the shuttle back to the hotel after walking around both parks all day was great. The shuttle pickup and drop off locations at the Universal City Walk are very convenient and you do not have to walk out of your way to get to them. When we returned to the hotel, we grabbed dinner from the Bayliner Diner and took it back to our room as we were exhausted. Staying on Universal property while visiting the parks was perfect and I highly recommend it.
The Cabana Bay Beach Resort is adorable and we thoroughly enjoyed the retro theme. Although we visited the parks, we could have easily spent our day exploring the hotel and enjoying its amenities.
Enjoy All That Cabana Bay Has To Offer
Cabana Bay is a vacation destination within itself. Although a Universal resort, you do not have to visit the theme parks while staying here (although they do make it very convenient!). From a wide variety of restaurants to fun-in-the-sun activities, a bowling alley to retro decor, the whole family will enjoy staying at Cabana Bay.
