Yak and Yeti Restaurant
My husband, Blake, and I went to Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom theme park to check out the new Pandora area. We took a break to go see the Rivers of Light nighttime show in the Asia section of the park. During our walk, I was in the middle of telling Blake how much I would love a sit down meal, when we stumbled on the Yak and Yeti restaurant. Who knew that this was here!
Yak and Yeti is a Nepalese-style restaurant serving pan-Asian cuisine at the base of Expedition Everest, in the Asia part of Animal Kingdom. This table-service restaurant is decorated with Southeast Asian artifacts. Yak and Yeti has a menu that accommodates just about everyone, including vegetarians and children.
As with all Disney restaurants, reservations are strongly recommended and can be made 180 days in advance. The restaurant accepts some dining plans.
Blake and I started our meal with Pot Stickers. He is a Pot Sticker connoisseur and loved them! For dinner, I had one of my favorite dishes, Firecracker Shrimp (crispy fried shrimp in a creamy, spicy sauce, served on Asian slaw). The description does not lie; the sauce is spicy! My mouth was on fire after one bite. Once I got past the kick of the sauce, I really enjoyed the shrimp.
Blake had a hard time choosing what to have, but opted for the Ahi Tuna Nachos (sushi grade ahi, Asian slaw, crispy fried wontons, wasabi aioli, sweet soy glaze). They were really messy but definitely worth it. I love the idea of nachos served on wontons instead of chips.
We really wanted to get the Fried Wontons for dessert (skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey-vanilla drizzle) but we were stuffed.
From The Bar
Yak and Yeti has a full-service bar. The restaurant offers several specialty drinks in addition to beer, wine, and sake. There are a multitude of non-alcoholic beverages available, too, including hot tea, lemonade, frozen daiquiris, and soft drinks. For an additional fee, get your drink in a Yak and Yeti souvenir cup that you can take home with you.
Note: There is open seating at the bar. If the restaurant is on a wait, try to grab a spot here.
Don’t Pass By Yak and Yeti!
I cannot believe that I have walked by Yak and Yeti for years and never checked it out. Although the restaurant’s decor is very visual appealing, their food is even better. In fact, it is one of the best restaurants that I have eaten at in the park. I cannot wait to go back to Yak and Yeti the next time that we are at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom!
