My Top 10 Things I Love About Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Jackson Hole, Wyoming was the destination I chose when my husband told me to plan a getaway anywhere that I wanted for just for the two of us. He was so shocked when I told him that we were headed “out West”. The natural beauty and vast contrast to our typical vacation spots was the main draw…I wanted to try something different. Here are the 10 things that I loved most about Jackson Hole. It still ranks as one of the best trips of our life.
#1 Scenery
The scenery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is some of the most beautiful I have ever witnessed in the states. For me, the Grand Teton Mountains reign supreme in the scenery category. They are picturesque and remain partially snow-capped almost year round. How can you not take a beautiful photo with the Teton Mountains as your backdrop? This is just one of the 10 things I love about Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
#2 Wildlife
There is something to be said for seeing animals wandering freely in their natural habitat. My husband tired quickly of me wanting to pull the car over every time I saw some magnificent creature walking down the road. There are signs posted to refrain from doing so but we animal lovers think differently.
#3 Gourmet Chocolates
Atelier Ortega has amazing artisan chocolates that are simply sinful to both look at and taste. They are one of my favorite chocolatiers in Wyoming and in the world! Be sure to stop at the shop in Jackson Hole and select all your favorites, which they will pack in their fancy signature orange box. I recommend the Espresso, Jasmine, and the Oregano & Earl Grey bonbons.
#4 Rodeo
The Jackson Hole Rodeo is very fun and it feels like a close-knit family event. It is affordable entertainment and you can make a whole night of it. This event has been running for over 100 years in JH.
#5 Nature
I love to explore the outdoors and while I am new to National Parks, my favorite thing about the Yellowstone National Park was their geothermal areas. They did not smell so good but the pictures were exquisite. Here is my favorite one, the Midway Geyser Basin. Wyoming has so many beautiful things to see.
#6 Relaxation
Jackson Hole is such a relaxing destination. This is how your evening might unfold. Join a group of friends for cocktails and conversation around the fire pit as you enjoy the spectacular scenery. Repeat daily.
#7 Fishing
Cast your rod into the Snake River for some dynamic fly-fishing. Rent your own boat or hire a guide for lessons. Caution: the water can be swift at times, while at others you will have no problem whitewater rafting or scenic floating. Be on the lookout for bald eagles! Wyoming has lots of them.
#8 Fine Foods
Spoil your taste buds with a delicious upscale meal from Jenny Lake Lodge. Their menu changes daily but everything I had there was superb. The presentation was visually stunning as well. Hats off to the very qualified and impressive chef!
#9 Shopping
Stroll around the Jackson Hole Town Square and explore unique shops, swanky art galleries, and its famous elk-antler arches. I recommend a visit to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for eats, drinks, or just people watching. Later, take a quick browse around the Stone’s Mercantile.
#10 Outdoor Life
Go for a hike or bike ride and see what gifts nature will bestow upon you. There is always something new to discover at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Jackson Hole was honestly one of the best vacations we have had in the United States. I highly encourage you all to venture out West for a memorable, beautiful, and unique trip of a lifetime. The wildlife and natural wonders will astound you.

What perfect timing! We’re about to book flights to Yellowstone. I’ll bookmark this post and definitely be referring to it. Thanks so much, I was wondering why Jackson Hole was so famous, and just where should I go to get great shots.
When I first arrived in the tiny airport (though very posh), I was certainly concerned but as soon as I got into the town, I was in love. You will have a blast. Jenny Lake Lodge is a must-see. Enjoy your trip and safe travels.
My brother and his wife recently moved to WY (the Sheridan area). We haven’t been out to visit them yet, but I am astonished by the beauty in the photos they send us. And I absolutely love Yellowstone! Jackson Hole looks like an amazing place to visit!
Oh you should go. Its a win-win, great scenery PLUS free accommodations. 😉 It truly is amazing.

Yes, what’s not to love about Jackson Hole or the whole area around it for that matter. I am planning on a road trip through Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho for later in the year (maybe next) so will bring this top 10 list along.
Oh how fantastic! Okay, so I am a little jealous that you are getting Montana and Idaho, too. Maybe that will be in my future at some time. Trying to get around to all the states. Have a wonderful trip.
It does look amazing. It has been on my list for a while and I regret not visiting when I was living in the states 🙂
I’m sure you will have plenty of time in the future. Good thing about Jackson Hole is that it is doubtful it will change much over the years; I love places like that. Thanks for reading. 😉
I went to JH over 30 years ago and still have fond memories. Thanks for the flashback!
You are welcome! I was so surprised by all the awesomeness of it! 😉
I was fortunate enough to work and live in Jackson and the Tetons for 7 years! You bring back many great memories! All I would add is to try the Chipotle truffles Atelier Ortega!
Oh wow. Lucky girl. Thanks for the advice, I will look for that one next time. Their candies are so delicious and gorgeous.
