4 Places To Check Out in Concord, North Carolina
Minutes from Charlotte, North Carolina is the quaint town of Concord. Concord is in Cabarrus County (where racing lives) and includes Charlotte Motor Speedway. I had the chance to visit downtown Concord, which is only five miles from I-85. This historic and pedestrian-friendly shopping and business district offers some cool places to check out that I thought you might enjoy. Allow me to share with you four places to check out in Concord, North Carolina.
#1 The Bead Lady
This awesome shop, or extraordinary collection of shops, is found in a sprawling building with separate rooms, all full of gorgeous jewelry, beads, handmade items, and unique items. I fell in love with so many of the earrings and rings, all fashioned from cool pieces and ideas. The Bead Lady had some of the neatest jewelry designs I’ve ever seen. I was shocked that her store was in such a small town but it actually fit perfectly. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack.
#2 Gianni’s Trattoria
Enjoy Italian dining at its finest at this local eatery. Straight out of New York, partners Gianni and Chef Heather prepare mouth-watering pasta dishes that will definitely impress. My friends and I sampled the Lasagne al Forno, Melanzane Ripieno (stuffed eggplant pasta), and Brooklyn Style “Broccoli and Macaroni”. Though they were all really good, the eggplant was the standout dish. This tasty concoction could convince anyone that they not only like, but love eggplant! We also tried the mesclun salad and garlic knots. Yum! The restaurant is adorable and comfortable, too. For dessert, be sure to try the cannoli or the eclairs.
#3 Cabarrus Arts Council: The Galleries and Davis Theatre
A historic house turned art gallery is the venue for amazing art collections from local artists. Some of the featured works at the Cabarrus Arts Council were statues, watercolors, pottery, and paintings. Upstairs, the Davis Theatre hosts live events including music, dance, and entertainment. Art education is a big part of the arts council and classes are currently available for after-school programs, family days, and art lab installations. This is truly a place you could get lost in for hours admiring the beautiful works by talented artisans in North Carolina.
#4 Cabarrus Creamery
Everybody loves ice cream…even more so when it is fresh, fabulous, and homemade from by a local family. From the whimsical chalkboard with all of Cabarrus Creamy flavors listed to the retro tables, this is a favorite stop for both tourists and locals as they enjoy decadent ice cream cones. Most popular flavors are Peanut Butter, Coconut, and Roasted Pecan. For those watching their calories, Cabarrus Creamy also has protein smoothies as an alterative choice.
Get To Know Concord
Concord is an adorable town that you should stop to see. These four places to check out in Concord are only a few of the many options for exploring the area. Ellis Jewelers, Downtown Donuts, and J Talbert (upscale men’s fashions) also drew my attention. You may also consider dropping by Cabarrus County’s other attractions such as Charlotte Motor Speedway, Cabarrus Brewing Company, and Cougar Run Winery. Consider adding Concord to your North Carolina travel plans and see what you think!
