Meet the Writers of WIMR Blog
I am Melody Massey Pittman, the original creator and founder of Wherever I May Roam Blog. I’m from Charleston, WV, translated to sunny Vero Beach, Florida 8 years ago. I live there with my husband (Eddie) of nearly 30 years, King Charles Cavalier (Priscilla), and rescue cat (Harlow). Our daughter Peyton, a restaurant manager, lives in Vero Beach, too.
Our other daughter, Taylor, who is co-owner and my partner at WIMR, resides in Mississippi with her husband (Blake, a Nurse Practitioner and the best S-I-L I could have asked for) and daughter (Scarlett-aka The Nugge). It is such a joy to work with your kid, and I highly recommend it. I’m Scarlett’s G-Ma and can’t wait until she can tag along with our multi-generational travels. She came into this world 13 weeks early, and had prayers and people pulling for her from around the world. We spent 73 days in the NICU with her before she was released. Today, she is doing wonderful and caught up with other 18 month olds. My family is the #1 thing in my life and I’m blessed to have a great one!
Travel writing and blogging has been the greatest chapter in my life. I’ve met so many people from around the world, and made incredibly rich friendships. I’ve done everything from harvesting wheat in the Midwest to enjoying private Disney events with a small group of select invitees, getting VIP treatment at race tracks and hotels, to working with my favorite brands in the whole world, such as Marriott, Holland America, and Viking River Cruises. I never dreamed mid-life and the second chapter in life could be so much fun.
Since the creation of Wherever I May Roam, I’ve become an influencer for many brands, and also write freelance for both print and online publications. Since penning my first book with the help of my lifelong friend, Shannon, in the 6th grade, I’ve always had a passion for writing and creating content. Blog life has forced me to really get to know myself, and do things I never even considered. Who knew my favorite things at 50 years old would be road tripping, visiting (and getting stamps) the National Parks, and exploring museums and art galleries all over the world? I’ve been feet away from 600 bison, ridden a Segway through South Beach, driven a snowmobile, done charitable work in the Caribbean, and helped various towns shine through social media shares and promoting their destinations. What adventures I’ve had!
After 20 years with CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield and four years owning/managing/operating my own cafeterias and catering business, my husband and I semi-retired to Florida. We also live part-time in the mountains of Boquete (Boquete Gardens), Panama, in one of the houses we built. Here are some fun facts about me:
- The best words to describe me are “blessed” and “charmed”
- I love cooking and how great it feels to share food with neighbors or friends, or volunteering in my town
- I’m a homebody. When I am not traveling, you can find me piddling around my house, perfectly content
- I am crazy for Jeopardy, trivia, 70’s music, and road trips
- I’m a total food snob, but Indian and Mexican are my top-picks
- My favorite things to do are to cruise and see Broadway musicals
- I talk a lot and never meet a stranger
- Sending snail mail and postcards to family and friends makes me happy, as well as visiting sick friends at home or in the hospital
- I absolutely love animals, especially hippos, cows, dogs, and sloths
I hope you will take a few minutes to check out Wherever I May Roam Blog and allow us to your go-to resource for travel, culture, and eats with a side of luxury and smart spending.

Taylor Pittman Hardy
My name is Taylor Pittman Hardy and I am Melody’s oldest and favorite daughter (she did not verify this). I am proud to be from Charleston, West Virginia and I will always be a Mountaineer at heart. College took me to Mississippi and I had the very best experience at Ole Miss. It has become my home away from home and I will always cherish my time spent in Oxford.
Most recently, my husband, Blake, and I bought a house in Brandon, Mississippi, a small town twenty minutes from Jackson. When we are not on vacation, I like to catch up on all of my shows (TiVo was such a great invention), bake, shop, coupon, craft, and listen to The Highway on Sirius XM.
I spent my childhood traveling the globe with my family and vividly remember one summer where my suitcase was never unpacked; we were gone that much. When we were at home, my sister, Peyton, and I would help out at our Dad’s vending company (stickering candy for the machines back in the day) and at Melody’s catering facility (twice she had us serve food in the middle of a minefield).
I am excited to have joined my mom on her blogging journey and I am looking forward to sharing my traveling experiences with you.
Hotty Toddy Y’all!
Former owner of The Pittman Group and Canteen Vending by Pittman, Eddie sold the business after 30 years and moved to Florida. Looking for an investment, he decided to build homes in Panama. Nestled in the mountains of Boquete, his project is Boquete Gardens, a premier, luxury rental community. He splits his time between Vero Beach, Florida and Boquete, Panama.
Eddie is an active volunteer for the annual Boquete Jazz and Blues Festival, Save the Chimps Sanctuary in Florida, and Amigos de Animales in Boquete. Translated to “friends of animals,” this volunteer group works as a spay and neuter clinic in Boquete, helping 200-250 animals each month.
Some items on Eddie’s bucket list are to see orangutans in Borneo and experience Fiji. In his free time, Eddie enjoys traveling, kayaking, and exploring all that Florida has to offer.
And if you haven’t figured it out yet–Eddie is Melody’s husband and Taylor’s dad. We’re thrilled to have him joining our blogging endeavors!
