Tunica is on the west side of the Magnolia State, twenty minutes south of downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Known as one of the poorest areas in the nation, Tunica was lucky to have gambling enter the picture in the 1990s. And the rest is history. My husband and I visited the area on an RV trip and had a blast at the various gambling institutions. Here is what we found to be the best casinos in Tunica, Mississippi.

Hollywood Casino & Hotel Tunica
My favorite place to gamble in Tunica was Hollywood Casino & Hotel. You’ll be transported to the golden age of Hollywood in this casino by the same name and a member of the Mychoice rewards program that is reciprocal with L’Auberge, Ameristar, and Tropicana, to name a few. Hollywood Casino’s gambling options include Sportsbook, slots, video poker, and table games.

Hollywood Casino & Hotel has traditional hotel rooms in the five and eight-story buildings and even an RV park, which had a lot of business. This resort boasts the “largest indoor pool in Tunica” title, and patrons receive priority tee times at the River Bend Links Golf Course, formerly a cotton field.
Five restaurants are found on the property, including Celebrity Grill, Epic Buffet, and Fairbanks Steakhouse, operating Thursday through Saturday evenings. Another big draw for Hollywood Casino & Resort is the Bar Stage, which showcases live bands from 8 PM until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Horseshoe Tunica
Jack Binion created the super sparkly and gorgeous Horseshoe Tunica. He named the casino after the family’s famous Binion’s Horseshoe Club, the first gambling hall and saloon in Vegas. You’ll find exciting slots, but the most popular attractions are the table games and the Caesar’s Sportsbook.

The Horseshoe Tunica has three casual restaurants, two quick bites, and one fine dining, which genuinely impressed me. Jack Binion’s Steak is a stylish upscale space known for the jaw-dropping seafood tower and the 24 oz. Prime Tomahawk Ribeye.
A live music venue also brings in some pretty great entertainment, such as country music star Martina McBride and comedian Jeff Dunham, in the next few months.
If you are staying overnight, you’ll find the Horseshoe Tunica Hotel offers modern rooms (311 suites) with 42″ LED-screen TVs. Amenities include an outdoor pool and gym.
Be sure to use your Caesar’s Rewards casino loyalty club card to earn points on your spending.

Gold Strike Resort & Casino
Though the property was originally a circus tent, you’d never know that from the stunning and stately mirrored 31-story high-rise that stands there today. Featuring 1250+ hotel rooms, many with views of the Mississippi Delta, Gold Strike Resort & Casino is a luxurious place to stay and also has a conference center.
I want to call attention to the fact that MGM Hotels are now part of the Fresh by Stay Well program, a wellness plan using technologies from Delos, the Cleveland Clinic, and Dr. Deepak Chopra, which is an excellent offering after what we’ve all been through.

There are six restaurants onsite at the Gold Strike Resort & Casino. Buffet Americana is an excellent place to eat all that you want for one flat price (and it’s delicious, I can vouch for that!) and Chicago Steakhouse, a high-end “fancy enough to be date night” venue, being two of them.
Gold Strike’s spa is in high demand, and the Topgolf Swing Suite is great for anyone wanting to play an immersive round in the privacy of their comfy bay suite. You can even order food while you are there, too. This is easily one of the best casinos in Tunica, Mississippi.
This MGM Casino features table games, 1200+ slot machines, and myVEGAS bingo, a hot craze with fun antics and challenges.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall
An exciting Tunica, Mississippi gambling or sightseeing day includes a stop at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall. Resembling an old Western destination, Sam’s Town shares, “our Southern hospitality is legendary, as is our delectable cooking, flavored with regional favorites and our own specialties.”
I spoke to several patrons at Sam’s Town, claiming that they loved the special touches and felt like family at this casino.

Besides an 840-room hotel, Sam’s Town has an RV park, which appeals to my current lifestyle. There are two floors of gambling fun to be had with the best selection of the iconic Buffalo Gold Revolution and Buffalo Legends I’ve seen yet.
Enjoy Sam’s Town’s two restaurants, shopping, golf at River Bend Links, and entertainment at River Palace while you are in Tunica.

Casino Visit Reminders
Here are several things you need to keep in mind when visiting these properties:
- Player loyalty cards can rack up points which can translate to discounted rooms, possibly comped meals, and various other perks.
- Players must be 21 or older in order to gamble or to purchase or consume alcohol.
- “Free drinks” are offered at all four of these casinos, so long as the guest is actively playing table games or slots, and has proper ID.
- Many casinos are now non-smoking, but do have designated smoking areas, often on an outside patio, some equipped with slot machines.
- Several casinos offer a 10% discount with a AAA membership card or military identification.
- Gambling addiction is a real thing; if you think you may have a problem stepping away and knowing when to quit, call the National Helpline at 1-800-522-4700.
