During a cross-country RV trip, my husband and I enjoyed exploring the best casinos in Tunica, Mississippi. Here are our recommendations for visiting this unique destination, just twenty minutes south of downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
Tunica is a unique destination that has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent decades. Once considered one of the poorest areas in the nation, Tunica’s fortunes changed when gambling was introduced in the 1990s. Since then, this small town has become synonymous with vibrant casinos and exciting entertainment options.
Hollywood Casino & Hotel Tunica
My preferred gambling spot in Tunica was Hollywood Casino & Hotel. This casino, part of the Mychoice rewards program, offers a taste of the golden age of Hollywood. Along with L’Auberge, Ameristar, and Tropicana, Hollywood Casino & Hotel offers reciprocal benefits. You’ll find a variety of gambling options, including Sportsbook, slots, video poker, and table games.
The resort features traditional hotel rooms in five and eight-story buildings, as well as an RV park that attracts many visitors. With the distinction of having the “largest indoor pool in Tunica,” Hollywood Casino & Hotel also offers priority tee times at the River Bend Links Golf Course, formerly a cotton field.
The property boasts five restaurants, including Celebrity Grill, Epic Buffet, and Fairbanks Steakhouse, operating on Thursday through Saturday evenings. Additionally, the Bar Stage at Hollywood Casino & Hotel hosts live bands on Fridays and Saturdays, creating an enticing atmosphere for visitors.
Jack Binion created the Horseshoe Tunica, a super sparkly and gorgeous casino named after the family’s famous Binion’s Horseshoe Club. It was the first gambling hall and saloon in Vegas. The casino features exciting slots, but the main attractions are the table games and Caesar’s Sportsbook.
The Horseshoe Tunica offers three casual restaurants, two quick bites, and one fine dining option, which genuinely impressed me. Jack Binion’s Steak is a stylish upscale space known for its jaw-dropping seafood tower and the 24 oz. Prime Tomahawk Ribeye. Additionally, a live music venue hosts great entertainment, including country music stars like Colt Ford and Rodney Carrington.
If you stay overnight, the Horseshoe Tunica Hotel provides modern rooms (311 suites) with 42″ LED-screen TVs. The amenities include an outdoor pool and gym. Remember to use your Caesar’s Rewards casino loyalty club card to earn points on your spending.
Gold Strike Resort & Casino
Once a circus tent, the property has transformed into a stunning 31-story high-rise. Gold Strike Resort & Casino offers over 1250 hotel rooms with Mississippi Delta views, along with a conference center. MGM Hotels are now part of the Fresh by Stay Well program, incorporating wellness technologies from Delos, the Cleveland Clinic, and Dr. Deepak Chopra.
Gold Strike Resort & Casino boasts six onsite restaurants, including Buffet Americana, offering unlimited delectable dishes for a single price. For an upscale dining experience, Chicago Steakhouse sets the perfect ambiance. The resort’s spa is highly sought after, while the Topgolf Swing Suite provides a private and immersive golfing experience.
As one of the finest casinos in Tunica, Mississippi, Gold Strike offers table games, 1200+ slot machines, and the wildly popular myVEGAS bingo.
