Pies & Pints is a restaurant that originated in Fayetteville, West Virginia. The people of Charleston, myself included, were thrilled when it branched out and opened on Capitol Street in Charleston. Within days, Charleston’s Pies & Pints had been bought out to franchise. Today, the restaurant spans six states with 15 locations. This is the place to go for mouthwatering gourmet pizza and a huge selection of beer on tap.
Having been to Pies & Pints on many times and to different locations, the Charleston store is my favorite. The restaurant has a great vibe, high top seating that makes it possible to watch the pizzas being made, and the wait staff is knowledgable.
To start your dining experience, sink your teeth into the Pork and Pepper Nachos. This tasty number is loaded with black beans, jalapeños, cheddar cheese, salsa, scallions, and chipotle crema. Holy smokes, these nachos are yummy!
Incredible Pie Choices
Charleston’s Pies & Pints makes impressive pizza. You can order the half and half option, which allows you to pick two kinds of pizza, large size only for this deal. They will make each half from a different pizza combination. Thus, you can share with someone and at least have two options; it is a win, win for everyone! Gluten-free choices are also available. My go-to order is the Grape & Gorgonzola and the Steak & Mushroom.
Grape & Gorgonzola is Pies & Pints biggest seller. It is topped with plump red grapes, fresh rosemary, and Gorgonzola blue cheese crumbles. It may sound bizarre, but the taste is refreshing and incredible!
The Steak & Mushroom features caramelized onions, Gorgonzola (I see a trend), scallions, and horseradish creme. Delicious! It is the ultimate comfort food pizza.
Beer, Beer, and More Beer
If you are a beer lover, you’ll be as “happy as a clam at high tide,” that’s Southern speak. Happy hour at Charleston’s Pies & Pints runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 PM. Deals are $1 off pints and select house wines plus $2 off apps. Pies & Pints has 19 beers on tap, 33 different bottled beers, and 18 cans in stock currently, plus hard cider.
Pies & Pints in Charleston: A Do-Not-Miss Eatery
Pies & Pints in Charleston, West Virginia, is a place I would recommend to anyone. Seeing that my least favorite food is pizza (gasp!), this is one stop I make an exception for. These are not your average chain store pizza, but instead, a culinary delight with upscale ingredients, favorable combinations, and tantalizing flavors.
