Florida’s Treasure Coast is made up of cities from Melbourne to Stuart, along the Atlantic coast. Many of them are located in Martin County, a place I visited recently. Here, you will find many one-of-a-kind eateries, classic restaurants, and local favorites. Rest assured the fresh seafood is fantastic as well as many other offerings we’ve showcased for you.
Without further adieu, here are the best restaurants in Jensen Beach, Stuart, and the rest of Florida’s Treasure Coast.
Drift Kitchen + Bar (Jensen Beach)
This sophisticated hotel restaurant draws its share of locals as well as those staying at the Hutchinson Shores Hotel. Drift Kitchen + Bar makes their own pasta so it is hard to not order one of the decadent dishes they have on the menu. Try the Bucatini Carbonara, with crispy pancetta, Cremini mushrooms, peas, and finished with a Pecorino Tuscano Cream sauce and traditional egg yolk. The pasta pairs perfectly with the delicious complimentary warm bread and herbed butter spread.
Start your foodie experience with Burrata Caprese with Heirloom tomatoes, balsamic reduction, and cold-pressed olive oil. It is amazing!
If you need more, choices perhaps the wood-fired pizza choices, Seared Snapper, or Blue Crab Crusted Grouper will satisfy your palate. Drift Kitchen + Bar also serves breakfast and has a separate bar area (Lounge + Chef’s Bar) for enjoying a nightcap or curated charcuterie and artisanal cheese boards. Save room for the excellent Torched S’Mores dessert in a jar, one of three jarred sweet treats that are offered. You’ll see why we ranked this one as the best place to eat in Jensen Beach.
The Gafford (Stuart)
When you dine at The Gafford, not only will you feast on a phenomenal farm-to-table meal, but you will be in the company of other foodies who appreciate the time and quality that the restaurant puts into their culinary creations. Come hungry, because the menu tantalizes you with appetizers such as Smoked Duck Wings (tossed with sweet chile, sesame, and citrus), Grilled Avocado (with heirloom tomato and smoked jalapeño coulis), and Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower, my favorite dish with a roasted red pepper cream.
For dinner, try the house favorite, Mabel’s Fried Chicken (boneless) paired with gravy and mashed Yukon golds. The Southern Style Meatloaf is another crowd-pleaser, made from a mix of short rib, brisket, bacon, and ground chuck. Don’t miss the upscale wine list!
Right in the heart of the Treasure Coast is an award-winning craft chocolatier by the name of Castronovo. Situated in a small strip mall, this chocolate powerhouse is of international fame and ships worldwide. Try speciality artisanal chocolate bars with cacao sourced from remote places in Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, and Honduras, to name a few. My favorite is the Honduras Dark Milk Chocolate with Fleur de Sel–rich and smooth.
If chocolate pieces or bars are not your style, try one of the hot or cold chocolate beverages. The Hot Sipping Chocolate is my favorite but the new Chocolate Sorbet Popsicles have certainly piqued my interest.
Harry and the Natives (Hobe Sound)
Step back into Old Florida time at this enormous restaurant featuring killer breakfast dishes, down-home cooking, and an eclectic vibe. There is a huge outdoor bar in a tiki setting with corn hole, ping-pong, and occasional live music. Harry and the Natives serves amazing breakfast items including omelettes, Corned Beef Hash with poached eggs, a variety of pancakes and waffles, quiche, and Benedicts.
I went with the Smilin’ Jack Omelette with spicy sausage, onions, green peppers, and provolone–it was fantastic! Can’t make up your mind? How about the Trump Omelette consisting of “Make America Great Again” for $1,000,000,000,000. Prices at Harry and the Natives are just right and they have been serving Hobe Sound since Pearl Harbor Day, 1941.
Twisted Tuna (Port Salerno)
While this is the largest waterfront restaurant in Martin County, Twisted Tuna is a great place to get fresh seafood served in a variety of ways and cool beverages. Choose from pizza to pasta, sandwiches to sushi, and a variety of craft beers and cocktails. I highly recommend the Florida Gator Bites, with a fabulous coconut lime sauce, and Grouper Fingers paired with tartar sauce.
Twisted Tuna’s raw bar includes shrimp, Middle Neck clams, oysters, lobster, and crab. They are known for their Twisted Oysters, a fresh dish with green seaweed, sour cream, chili sauce, and masagro. Listen to live music in one or more of the three bars found at Twisted Tuna.
Bonus: you can arrive at the Twisted Tuna by boat.
Note: Our service was lacking at Twisted Tuna by both our waitress and bartender.
Jan’s Place (Jensen Beach)
One of my favorite breakfast spots in the whole state of Florida is Jan’s Place in Jensen Beach. Homecooked quality foods are served with a smile from a friendly and helpful waitstaff at this casual American diner. I love the cozy, comfortable, and relaxed atmosphere plus the interesting menu.
Jan’s Place offers homemade pastries, muffins, and breads, as well as seasonal dishes such as the Pumpkin French Toast Combo, served with your choice of breakfast meat and eggs any style.
I always go for the Benedicts and Jan’s Place has a great list to choose from. My favorite is the Creole Benedict, with biscuits as the base, topped with fried shrimp, sautéed onions, andouille sauce, and peppers, and drowned in a cajun hollandaise. It is fantastic but big enough to share. Jan’s serves lunch, also.
Crawdaddy’s (Jensen Beach)
Definitely one of the best places for a fun atmosphere on Florida’s Treasure Coast, Crawdaddy’s delivers good food, drinks, and a really great time at their N’Awlins inspired grill and raw bar. Crawdaddy’s serves delicious cajun and Creole favorites such as Shrimp Creole, Jambalaya, and Crawfish Étouffée or a unique dish like the Cajun Gorgonzola Meatballs.
If you prefer more American menu items, opt for the Yellowfin Tuna or Crab Cakes. Dine in or outside for lunch or dinner on Crawdaddy’s attractive covered patio, enjoyed best with a tasty Hurricane drink. Stay for the live music Thursday (Jammin’ Jensen day throughout town) through Sunday. Musicians playing Crawdaddy’s can be found here.
