WDW’s Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast
Start your day at Walt Disney World the right way, by having breakfast at The Boardwalk hotel’s Trattoria al Forno for the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast with four of your favorite Disney prince and princesses.
I wanted to dine at Disney’s newest character breakfast and meet my favorite Disney prince, Flynn Rider. After stalking the Disney website for weeks (not even kidding!), I was finally able to get a reservation for my husband and myself when we visited Walt Disney World in June. The morning of, I sprang out of bed like a kid of Christmas morning: I was going to get my picture with Flynn Rider!
Need a place to stay while in Orlando?
Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Ariel, and Prince Eric (dressed in his Royal wear) are the stars of this meal. Each character has a musical entrance into the dining room and then makes his or her way to each table in the room. The characters start at different locations, so you have some time to eat in-between character meet and greets.
At one point, Ariel leads the Napkin Parade and children follow her waving their, you guessed it, napkins around the restaurant. Each table is provided an autograph card as a souvenir that all four characters have signed.
Start Your Morning With A Frying Pan Full Of Pastries
Breakfast begins with your choice of a mixed berry parfait or fresh fruit. A frying pan full of pastries is brought for the whole table and includes a Rapunzel themed Sun Cookie and Braided Bread as well as a Little Mermaid Clamshell pastry. The fresh fruit was pretty uneventful but we really enjoyed the variety of pastries. The colorful muffin was my favorite while Blake loved the Braided Bread.
Mimosas, Peach Bellinis, Caprese Bloody Marys, Sangria, and specialty coffees are available for an additional fee.
While waiting for the characters to come to you, fill out the Bon Voyage Adventure Journal on the table. It includes questions about your Disney trip so far and what you hope to do during your time at Walt Disney World: “On my Disney adventures, my favorite ride is”, “My favorite Disney character is”, “My favorite thing to do on my Disney adventures is”
Our Breakfast Selections
I ordered the Tower of Pancakes with bacon and asked for the fruit compote on the side. The pancakes are thick and fluffy. I loved the sun design on the top.
Blake had the Tangled Eggs, Tomato and Basil Scrambled Eggs, Fresh Mozzarella, Sunday Gravy, and Roasted Potatoes. Our waitress recommended this dish; Blake very much enjoyed it.
Worth The $34 Price Tag?
The Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast is $34 for adults and $20 for children, ages 3-9. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 11 AM. Reservations are recommended and can be made 180 days in advance.
The waiting area of Trattoria al Forno is beautiful, but the restaurant itself is pretty unimpressive and dark. There are no decorations for this breakfast, just food themed after Rapunzel and The Little Mermaid. The open kitchen is the focus of the dining room.
Although I was thrilled to get pictures with Flynn Rider and Prince Eric, I am not sure that the $34 price tag was justified. The food was good and definitely more plentiful than at some other Disney breakfasts that I have been to, but I felt that the restaurant needed some decoration and definitely more light.
Overall, the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast is a great addition to Walt Disney World’s character dining list; the food is good, the photo opportunities come to you, and you get to meet two characters that cannot be found elsewhere. I hope that the restaurant will add some decoration since guests are paying more than normal for breakfast.
My Thoughts And Notes
The restaurant is quite dark and our pictures are definitely not the best. This would have been a great spot for Disney photographers to take “good” pictures of the guests with the characters and yet there were none here.
Reservations are made under Trattoria al Forno but Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast is listed on the confirmation, not the name of the restaurant.
If you access the Boardwalk from the hotel’s main lobby, the restaurant will be to your right.
There is a 10% Passholder discount.
