Delicious Green Springs Bistro in Safety Harbor
Safety Harbor is a little town near Dunedin and Clearwater on the west coast of Florida. It is a small town, but full of moxie and enjoyable things to see and do, with an emphasis on good food.
I dined at the Green Springs Bistro and was so pleasantly surprised at what a little-hidden gem this restaurant offered. Romantic, foodie-approved, and plates served with a Southern flair all hit home with me.
Like the saying “Big things come in small packages”, Safety Harbor is definitely a place you should visit.
Sometimes Trip Advisor Reviews Don’t Lie
My husband and I, along with two friends, were looking for good restaurants on Trip Advisor. Not typically our way of verifying a good eatery, we took the suggestion to visit Green Springs Bistro based on the latest reviews. In fact, the phrase that caught my eye started with “Gulf Coast cooking….and then some“. What a good move on our part! The gourmet food options and impressive menu lured us right in.
The four of us began our meal with cocktails, wine, and red sangria. The sangria was smooth and bold in flavor with notes of cinnamon, orange and green apple, a nice choice for a Florida evening.
Appetizers at Green Springs Bistro included a Ham/Red Onion/Artichoke Hearts Benelli (Greek flatbread) and Artichoke Dip served with garlic toast points. Both were sensational! The warm artichoke spread was rich and gooey, with lots of parmesan cheese. It paired nicely with the wine and sangria.
Second courses were a green salad and cup of Gumbo. The Gumbo’s rich roux with spicy sausage, chicken shreds, and okra over rice was a nice change up from the typical soup choices at other restaurants.
Bring on the Main Courses
Entrees that we chose were Shrimp, and Grits, Sesame Crusted Mahi-Mahi, Pecan Crusted Chicken Breast, and the Special of the Day, which was a local Florida fish entree.
Ask me what the best part of the meal was. Literally everything! The gourmet chef-inspired entrees were all on a foodies level and far exceeded our expectations. The sesame crusted Mahi-Mahi, drizzled with a combination of soy and sriracha, was served with ginger Jasmine rice and roasted vegetables and was scrumptious!
My Thoughts About Green Springs Bistro
Green Springs Bistro is set up with separate dining rooms plus an outdoor dining venue that is perfect for street views and enjoying Florida’s nice climate.
I absolutely loved the decorations, vibrant murals and especially the mod-podge style tables. They even had live musicians; a perfect special touch. We will definitely be back!
