There’s something magical about uncovering lesser-known travel destinations; Manchester, TN, is no exception. Nestled in the rolling hills of Tennessee, this charming town is the perfect launching pad for a series of unforgettable day trips, like Lynchburg, Fayetteville, Pulaski, and Dover.
Whether you’re an avid traveler or looking for a quick weekend getaway, Manchester offers a unique blend of comfort and adventure that will astound you.

Why Manchester, TN, Should Be Your Next Destination
Manchester is not just a stopover; it’s a destination rich with Southern hospitality and diverse attractions. The Broken Banjo RV Park (formerly the Manchester KOA Holiday) campground, conveniently located, provides an excellent base for your explorations.
Besides RV spots, the park also offers cabins, treehouses, teepees, glamping tents, and covered wagons to rent. With a pool, fishing pond, spray park, mini-golf, outdoor bowling, and even an outdoor movie theater, there’s plenty to keep you occupied when you’re not exploring.

A Day Trip to Lynchburg, TN
Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour
Lynchburg, just a short drive from Manchester, is home to the famous Jack Daniel’s Distillery. This tour is a must for any whiskey enthusiast or a non-drinker like myself who loves the history and setting equally.
The distillery offers a fascinating glimpse into the history and process of whiskey-making. Our guide was impressive and kept our attention with fun facts and tidbits. We did have a tasting at the end, with introductions to each brand and their distinct flavor notes.

Remember, Lynchburg is in a dry county, so the distillery is one of the two places where you can purchase Jack Daniel’s products, the other being a shop in town.
Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House Restaurant
After the tour, dine at Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House Restaurant. This historic eatery offers an authentic Southern dining experience with a constantly changing menu. Reservations are highly recommended, as the place fills up quickly.
We enjoyed a mouthwatering meal of meatloaf, green beans, mac & cheese, and Lynchburg candied apples. The dessert was an oatmeal cake pie, which nearly had us licking the plate. Trust me; it’s worth every penny.

Exploring Lynchburg’s Shops
Shopping in Lynchburg is a treat, with unique boutiques offering everything from local crafts to exclusive Jack Daniel’s souvenirs. Take a stroll around the town square, and you’ll find something for everyone, but doubtful you’ll shop for anyone but yourself, as I did.
I loved how this town really delivered a good dose of patriotism and Americana. And by the way, it still has only one traffic light.

A Visit to Fayetteville, TN
The Charm of Downtown Fayetteville
Fayetteville is another gem worth exploring. With its quaint downtown and picturesque city square, this town exudes small-town charm. We loved wandering around the beautifully restored courthouse and taking in the lovely shops and eateries.

The Famous Slawburger
No visit to Fayetteville is complete without trying a famous Slawburger from Ken’s Fast Foods. Topped with a unique yellow slaw, this local delicacy is a nostalgic nod to our childhood in West Virginia. Surprisingly, it was quite tasty and cheap.
For dessert, stop by Shoney’s for a retro classic hot fudge sundae.

Bristol is another fun Tennessee city worthy of road tripping to.
Discovering Pulaski, TN
Coffee and Conversations at Second Street Coffee House
Pulaski, another charming town near Manchester, offers a delightful day trip experience. We met an old friend at Second Street Coffee House, where the coffee was divine and the ambiance even better. The cold brew and boujee coffee drink selections were excellent.

Exploring Historic Pulaski
Pulaski’s historic courthouse and town square are perfect for a leisurely stroll. It is no wonder the town was designated as a Tennessee Main street community back in 2015.
Downtown Pulaski is home to several standout stores, including The Clothes Pen for children’s clothing and The Outlook for running shoes and outerwear. Don’t miss Reeves, a 1950s retro soda fountain for chocolate malts and sundaes.

Visiting Milky Way Farm
Although we didn’t have time to visit during our trip, Milky Way Farm in Pulaski comes highly recommended. This historic family-owned dairy farm offers fresh ice cream in 48 flavors. It’s a perfect spot for families and ice cream lovers alike.
The Best of Nashville and Chattanooga
The Scenic Beauty of Chattanooga
Chattanooga, also an hour’s drive from Manchester, offers breathtaking natural beauty and outdoor activities. Visit Lookout Mountain, the Tennessee Aquarium, or take a scenic boat ride along the Tennessee River.
A Taste of Music City
Nashville, just an hour from Manchester, is a vibrant city known for its music scene. Spend a day exploring the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Ryman Auditorium, or simply enjoy live music at one of the many bars and restaurants.

Wrapping Up Your Adventure
Manchester, TN, and its surrounding areas offer a rich tapestry of experiences, from historical tours and unique shopping to delicious local cuisine and outdoor adventures. We had an unforgettable trip, and are confident you will too.
