Easy Laundry Room Makeover With Cricut Joy
Cricut’s newest machine, the Circuit Joy, is perfect for home improvement projects, both big and small. Here’s an easy way to make your laundry area a room to remember with the Cricut Joy. In less than one hour, you too can complete this easy laundry room makeover with Cricut Joy.
About The Cricut Joy
The Cricut Joy is a smart cutting and writing machine that makes it easy to personalize, organize, and customize your every day life. You can make cards, labels, stickers, t-shirts, tote bags, cupcake toppers, place cards, gift tags, and more in 15 minutes or less with this small and compact machine.
Cricut Joy even has its own iOS app, making crafting even easier and possible from virtually anywhere.
Best of all, the Cricut Joy has its own set of smart materials that work without a cutting mat, so there’s less for you to buy and transport.
Why I Love The Cricut Joy
I have had a Cricut Joy for three months and I absolutely love it! It has allowed me to do several DIY projects around my home and really get myself (and my family) organized. So far, I have organized my pantry, crafting supplies, closet, and daughter’s room. I have also spent a lot more time crafting than usual because the Cricut Joy is much easier to get out and set up than my Cricut Explore Air 2.
My favorite Cricut Joy features are the matless cutting (allows for quicker cuts), continuous cuts (up to x feet), and that I can truly craft anywhere due to the machine’s small size.

You Will Need:
Coral Permanent Smart Vinyl (I used Removable because I might want to change the color in the future)
1. Open Cricut Design Space. Click the Project tab. Search “Family Established Sign”. Click on the first Family Established Sign, then Customize.
Note: This is a Cricut Access design.
2. The first thing you want to do, is select all components of the design and shrink the size so you can see the whole thing. When you can see the entire design, it’s time to start editing it.
First, change the last name text.
Second, click the Established text, then Detach. You can now change the year. Select both line segments, the established text, and the bullet points. Click Attach.
Third, click on the family member names, then Detach. Change them to the names of your family members. You may need to play with spacing (select all, Align, Center Vertically, Distribute Horizontally). When you are happy with your spacing, select all of the names (ONLY the names, not the bullet points) and click Attach.
Now, select both line segments, the established text, and the bullet points. Click Attach.
There should be three components to your design: the last name, family member names, and established line plus bullet points. Select all three components and resize to what you will need for your canvas. My (whole) design was 13.5″ x 5.67″. When your design is the right size, you’re ready to cut.
Tip: Save your design frequently!
Note: Make sure you have selected Joy as your machine type at the top (next to the green Make It button).
Plug in your Cricut Joy and connect it via Bluetooth to your computer. On your Cricut Design Space Canvas, click Make It. Select Material Load Type as Without Mat, then click Continue.
I was prompted to load my Black Smart Vinyl first. Load vinyl and click Go. Let the Cricut Joy do its thing! When it’s finished cutting, click Unload and reload the other color. Click Go. When finished, click Unload.
Cut your design from the remaining vinyl and weed. When both colors of vinyl have been weeded, put a piece of transfer tape over them. Burnish your design using your scraper.
You’re now ready to assemble your canvas.
To help your vinyl stick to the canvas, paint it with a layer of white paint. I used a large foam brush and quickly painted the whole canvas white.
While your canvas dries, wash and dry the glass jars. When dry, simply peel the backing off of the Adhesive-Backed Deluxe Paper and put it on your jar. It is that easy! Then, fill it with your laundry room essentials. I chose laundry detergent pods and dryer balls.
Note: Smooth glass jars would work best.
When your canvas is dry, it’s time to assemble your design! Place your canvas on top of something sturdy (I used a textbook). Pull the vinyl with your last name on it from the transfer tape and apply to canvas. Burnish your design onto the canvas using your scraper. Gently pull off the transfer tape. Repeat with the remaining two pieces of vinyl.
Now, hang your sign and place your glass jars in your laundry room. That’s it–you have a refreshed space with the help of your Cricut Joy!
