Interactive displays and life-sized dinosaur models make this an exhilarating experience for children and adults as they uncover the mysteries of the Jurassic period. My 5-year-old granddaughter was interested in the inside museum offerings but loved the outdoor sand table and enormous dinosaurs to climb on.

2. Snow Canyon State Park
Snow Canyon State Park is a stunning natural playground that offers endless opportunities for family adventures. With its striking red and white sandstone cliffs, lava flows, and sand dunes, the park is perfect for hiking, picnicking, and stargazing.
Trails such as Jenny’s Canyon and Petrified Dunes Trail are family-friendly and offer breathtaking views that make every step worthwhile. It’s a place where nature’s grandeur invites exploration and discovery.

3. St. George Children’s Museum
The St. George Children’s Museum is a haven for young minds, inviting kids to immerse themselves in interactive exhibits that span various themes and subjects. From a miniature town where children can role-play different professions to science and art stations that spark creativity and curiosity, this museum offers an engaging environment where learning merges seamlessly with play.
It’s a perfect stop for families looking to stimulate young imaginations in an educational yet entertaining way.

4. Town Square Park
Town Square Park in downtown St. George is a delightful spot for families to unwind and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. The multi-purpose park features a splash pad, a rock waterfall with streams, ensuring that kids can cool off and have fun, and beautiful art installations.

Someone moved a lovely vintage carousel from Chicago to the landscape in 2011. The carousel costs $1 to ride, and it is closed on Sundays.


Additionally, Town Square Park hosts various community events and concerts, providing a vibrant atmosphere that brings locals and visitors together. It’s an ideal place to relax while letting the little ones play to their hearts’ content. This is also a popular place for dog walkers.

6. Tuacahn Amphitheatre
Experience the magic of live performances at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre, an outdoor venue set against the stunning red rock backdrop of Padre Canyon. With a lineup of Broadway shows, concerts, and family-friendly productions, Tuacahn provides entertainment that captivates audiences of all ages.
Attending a show here is a memorable way for families to enjoy the culture and the arts under the stars. The 2024 shows include Frozen: the Broadway Musical, Jersey Boys, Ring of Fire, and A Christmas Carol.

7. Thunder Junction All Abilities Park
Thunder Junction All Abilities Park is a playground designed to be inclusive for children of all abilities. With a dinosaur-themed splash pad, an accessible train ride (“roaring” C.P. Huntington 1/4-scale train on a 2,700-foot track), and various play structures, the park ensures every child can have fun and participate fully. It’s a heartwarming place where families can enjoy quality time together, creating cherished memories.
The all-abilities park is located inside Tonaquint Park at 1851 S. Dixie Drive. Please note that dogs are not allowed unless they are service dogs.

8. Zion National Park (Day Trip)
While technically not in St. George, Zion National Park is close enough for a convenient day trip and offers awe-inspiring natural beauty. Families can hike the park’s renowned trails, such as the Emerald Pools and Riverside Walk, or enjoy the majestic landscapes from a scenic drive.
Zion’s towering cliffs, verdant valleys, and diverse wildlife make it an unforgettable outdoor adventure for all ages.

9. St. George Temple Visitor’s Center
The St. George Temple Visitor’s Center offers a serene and educational experience for families interested in the history and significance of the iconic St. George Temple. 11. Pinkbox Doughnuts
Try the tastiest donuts in the world when you belly up to the counter at Pinkbox Doughnuts. Ever wonder why Utah has the sweetest treats around? One taste, and you’ll see why. This creative and beloved donut shop offers a selection of OG classics, Good Fellas, Fancy Pancy, Doughcro, Vegan, and Show Offs every day of the week.

“So good, you’ll lick the box.” Our faves are Cherry Bomb, Blue Face Doughcro, and Maple Ol’ Fashioned. My granddaughter (she’s 5) always chooses the plain Jane Suga Daddy and never leaves a crumb.

12. Visit the Plentiful Parks
You’ll be amazed at the sheer number of really great parks in St. George. Kids will never be without a fun playground adventure in this Southern Utah city.

13. Pioneer Museum
Step back in time at the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum (145 N 100 E), where the spirit of the early settlers of St. George is preserved and celebrated. The niche museum houses a collection of artifacts, photos, and historical storyboards that recount the pioneers’ trials and triumphs.
It’s a fascinating journey that provides adults and children a deeper understanding of the region’s rich heritage, making history come alive right before their eyes. And it’s free!
