7 Fun Things to Do at Hollywood Studios
Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios is a world of movies, television, music, and theater. Set in the Golden Age of Hollywood, this park is dedicated to all things in show business.
Hollywood Studios is laid out like a motion picture studio and has eight themed areas: Hollywood Boulevard (entrance), Echo Lake, Grand Avenue (previously known as the Muppets Courtyard), Municiberg (formerly Pixar Place, now home to all things Incredibles), Animation Courtyard, Toy Story Land, Sunset Boulevard, and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Each section is full of unique attractions, characters to meet, restaurants, and shopping.
Here are 7 things to do at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
1. Meet Sorcerer Mickey
Hollywood Studios is home to the best character meet and greet at Walt Disney World–Sorcerer Mickey! Meet Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams on Commissary Lane, across from the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant. You will first meet Minnie, in one of her dazzling red-carpet gowns, then Mickey, wearing his Sorcerer’s Apprentice outfit from Fantasia.
2. Visit Pixar Place
Come celebrate everyone’s favorite family of Supers at Pixar Place. The area is turned into a Municiberg city block and you can help The Incredibles search for clues to find a multi powered Super nearby.
At Edna Mode’s Super-Suit Gallery, see some of her greatest creations and meet the legendary designer herself.
The Neighborhood Bakery has Incredibles themed snacks, like the Num Num Cookie and Mask Pretzel.
3. Explore Toy Story Land
Toy Story Land is an area dedicated to all things Toy Story, with adventures for both kids and grown-ups.
There are three rides in Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land: Slinky Dog Dash (family-friendly coaster), Alien Swirling Saucers (out-of-this-swirl experience), and Toy Story Mania! (4D carnival shooting game). The first two rides are new, but Toy Story Mania! was around before the Toy Story Land addition (it just got a new entrance).
While you’re in Toy Story Land, be sure to say hello to Sheriff Woddy, Jessie the Cowgirl, and Buzz Lightyear. Be on the lookout for the Green Army Drum Corps, too. They put on a very high-energy show!
Swing by the area’s quick service restaurant, Woody’s Lunch Box. It serves classic American fare, old-fashioned soda floats, and other Toy Story themed specialties (like Lunch Box Tarts). The Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich is my favorite.

4. Indulge In All Things Frozen
Join Anna and Elsa for the Frozen Sing-along Celebration, as they relive the story of Frozen and sing-along to all of the movie’s songs. Two royal historians recap the story in a comical way that makes this show fun for all ages.
When you’re finished, head next door (Celebrity Spotlight) to meet Olaf. He has an adorable beach setting that is sure to make you smile.
5. Take A Thrill Ride
The Tower of Terror is a haunted elevator ride that drops you 13 stories down the 1930’s Hollywood Tower Hotel and into the 5th dimension. It’s based on the popular TV series of the same name. Will you make it back to the real world or become a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone?
On the Rock’n Roller Coaster, race across Los Angeles at 60 MPH in a stretch limo, courtesy of Steven Tyler, to make it to the Aerosmith concert. The ride is completely indoors and has glow in the dark props. Each limo plays a different Aerosmith song: Walk This Way, Back In The Saddle, Dude (Looks Like A Lady), or Sweet Emotion.
The Tower and Rock’n Roller Coaster are two of the best thrill rides at Walt Disney World.
6. Have Drinks At Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is in the brand new Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge part of the park. Enjoy an exotic concoction (with or without alcohol) and entertainment from droid DJ R-3X at this notorious local watering hole. Oga’s is a very unique experience and definitely worth a visit.
Note: You need a reservation to visit Oga’s Cantina and are only allowed to stay for 45-minutes.
Note: Majority of the cantina is standing room only. In the event you get a seat, you will be seated with other guests.
7. End Your Day With Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! features more than 50 live performers, massive sets, stunning effects, dazzling pyrotechnics, and rousing music. It’s a larger-than-life 30-minute show with both silly and suspenseful surprises. Fantasmic! is a great way to see characters from all of your favorite Disney movies (Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Snow White, and more) in one place.
Note: Fantasmic! takes place in an amphitheater curved around a lagoon. You will have a good view no matter where you sit.
