Guide To Visiting Walt Disney World As An Adult
Disney is not just for children. In fact, there are some advantages to visiting Walt Disney World as an adult. The biggest advantage is that you are not tied to a school schedule; you can visit any time of the year, not just during the summer when Florida is hotter than hades. Best of all, you can attend Walt Disney World’s special events throughout the year.
Whether you are spending one day or one week at Disney, here are some things at each park that my husband and I enjoy doing. Here is your guide to visiting Walt Disney World as an adult.
Have a magical time!
Need a place to stay during your trip?
Eat a pan-Asian feast at Yak and Yeti
This is the best restaurant that we have found at Animal Kingdom. Take a break from walking around in the Florida sun at this air-conditioned table service restaurant. The food is great and the menu is huge. Be sure to try the Firecracker Shrimp! Let loose and enjoy some sake, wine, or beer from the restaurant’s full bar. Reservations are recommended, but we were able to wait about 20 minutes and get a table.

Ride Expedition Everest
This is, hands down, the best ride at Walt Disney World. The rollercoaster takes you around the Forbidden Mountain, running into the Yeti monster, and drops you 80-feet. Riding Expedition Everest is even more thrilling at night!
Enjoy The Kilimanjaro Safari
My husband’s favorite Walt Disney World activity is the Kilimanjaro Safari. Take an 18-minute open-air safari ride around the 110-acre Harambe Wildlife Reserve. Animals that you may see include cheetahs, giraffes, white rhinos, lions, zebras, hyenas, and hippopotamuses.
Animal Kingdom’s newest addition, Pandora, is dedicated to all things Avatar. There are two rides in this area, Avatar Flight of Passage (fly on the back of a banshee in 3D) and the Na’vi River Journey (travel into a bioluminescent rainforest). I am not a fan of waiting in line, but I would for both of these. Start and end your day at Pandora so that you can get your picture taken in front of the falling rock and see the whole area lit up with bioluminescence.
Attend The Food and Wine Festival
Although you can always eat around the world at Epcot’s World Showcase’s 11 countries, the best time to visit is during the Food and Wine Festival. 35 additional kiosks are set up offering food and beverages from across the globe. The Festival also hosts cheese and beverage seminars as well as cooking demonstrations. Coincide your visit with Epcot’s Eat To The Beat Concert Series and enjoy some free live music, too. Most of the bands are blasts from the past, including Baha Men, Sugar Ray, 38 Special, Tiffany, Hanson, and Boys II Men.

Enjoy All Of The Rides
The Rock’n’Roller Coaster and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror were built for adults. I would argue that Toy Story Mania! was too, because what is more fun than beating your spouse at 3D carnival shooting games? All three of these rides can be FastPassed so that you can spend the majority of your day exploring Hollywood Studios, my second favorite Disney Park.
Celebrate Star Wars
Hollywood Studios is home to all things Star Wars. Ride a 3D simulator to popular Star Wars destinations in Star Tours-The Adventure Continues, watch a 10-minute film retelling the Star Wars saga at Star Wars: Path of the Jedi, witness the March of the First Order down Hollywood Boulevard, and meet BB8, Chewbacca, and Kylo Ren at Star Wars Launch Bay. End your day at Hollywood Studios with the nighttime show, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.
Play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
My husband and I are obsessed with this card game! Cast magical spells though the park to defeat Disney Villains. Pick up your starter pack of cards and learn how to play at the Firehouse on Main Street. This game allows you to explore parts of Magic Kingdom that you didn’t know existed and is included in your theme park admission.
Attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Trick-or-treating at Magic Kingdom is the holy grail of trick-or-treating. Disney gives out good candy, and lots of it. This is the ONLY time that adults can wear costumes at Disney World so it’s kind of a big deal, plus Magic Kingdom looks awesome decorated for Halloween and you get a special Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Spell Card. You must have a separate ticket for this event.
Disney Springs is the perfect spot for visiting Walt Disney World as an adult. With 109 shopping destinations, 55 restaurants, and 12 entertainment options, Disney Springs has it all. You can definitely find a lot of nightlife here. My husband and I like to swing by Disney Springs on our way to the hotel and grab a sundae from the Ghirardelli Ice Cram Shop. It’s so good!
Adults Enjoy Disney, Too
Visiting Walt Disney World as an adult is a lot of fun. Not having little ones to worry about gives you complete flexibility during your trip: where to eat, what time to eat, which rides to wait in line for, which rides to skip, and most notably, when to visit. My husband and I love visiting Walt Disney World as an adult and think you will, too!
