(UPDATED DEC 2022) A spur of the moment trip to West Palm Beach, Florida, brought me to a fun holiday activity, the Sandi Land Holiday in Paradise sand castle event. Each year, using a different theme, huge sand castle creations line the West Palm Beach Great Lawn, at the end of Clematis Street, and off Flagler Drive.
With yachts and stunning high-rise buildings as the backdrop, these incredible sand castles are amazing to see in person, and best of all, absolutely free.

Holiday in Paradise
Sandi Land’s “Holiday in Paradise” event runs from December 1st through the 31st and offers tropical-themed holiday sand displays. Holiday-themed photo boards are scattered throughout for you to pose with and several other attractions also commemorate the holiday season.
Other points of interest include playing Peppermint Putt-Putt (which offers 9 holes) or nightly light shows.

Though the sand sculptures change annual, Merry Kiss Much, with two angelfish kissing under the mistletoe, and Three Dogfish Night have been my favorites. My family takes a road trip every year to attend the Sandi Land event.

The “Lollipop-a-Palooza” them included music related sand castles, such as Stone Crabs and Shrimp Bizkit. Another year, Santa enjoying hot cocoa with his elves was brilliant. The sand artists are so creative and clever!

A Sand Castle Event Bigger and Better Each Year
Each year marks noticeable changes in the Sandi Land event, with bigger and better fun for the whole family all the time. This year, in 2022, a synchronized dancing water show unveils in the renovated Centennial Square Fountain. That sounds fantastic, and I can’t wait to see it.

The biggest attraction at Sandi Land would have to be massive world’s only Christmas tree, “Sandi”, made of 700 tons of sand. The tree is built on the Great Lawn and measures 35 feet tall. You’ll see it right away from the massive crowds gathered around to admire the beautiful display.

Break for a Delicious Lunch
While you are in the area, enjoy a delicious lunch from nearby E.R. Bradley’s Saloon or the iconic Rocco’s Tacos. You will love the ambiance and upscale eats at E.R. Bradley’s, a landmark restaurant that overlooks the West Palm Beach waterfront. The Mahi-Mahi fish tacos with rice and black beans are fabulous!
At Rocco’s Tacos, everything is delicious, but we are big fans of guacamole, Austin Queso, and the burritos. Margaritas are a must, with jalapeño and raspberry being our favorites.
