A German Foods Delight at Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe
After leaving the Central Florida Zoo, my daughter, Taylor, and I happened upon the cute town of Sanford, Florida. In the middle of downtown Sanford was an intriguing German restaurant which I had to try. Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe did not disappoint!
Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe offers German fare; in case you missed it, authentic German food. It proved to be the perfect place for this food lover. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, and the restaurant has a large bar area, too.
Hollerbach’s menus are so cool. Not only does the newspaper style list have the foods available, but also gives an in-depth look at the types of German sausages and the definition of many dishes. Bonus, you can take it home as a souvenir.
What We Had
Peyton and I chose Gourmet Potato Pancakes for an appetizer. Riesen Brezen and Wiener Schnitzel were our lunch choices to share. Riesen Brezen is a ten-inch giant pretzel served with the most delicious German mustard and Obadza, a delightful beer cheese spread.
Our waitress, Debbie, was awesome. She was helpful with the menu options, attentive with the service, plus gave us a trivia question to win a magnetic cling-on.
The dishes arrived looking fabulous, but the smell was what won us over immediately. Hollerbach’s Wiener Schnitzel is prepared in a traditional Bavarian style and available in pork, veal, or chicken. Served on the side of the Schnitzel are your choice of two items, in my case, sweet red cabbage and Käse Späetzle.
If you’ve not had Späetzle in the past, these homemade egg noodles with sautéed onions, butter, and Swiss cheese will knock your socks off! Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe did a fantastic job on them.
Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe offers family-style meals that feed four to six people. On my next visit, I am bringing friends so I can try everything on the King’s Feast sampler platter. The restaurant also features live entertainment on weekends plus has a fantastic selection of beer.
Have you eaten here?
Note: On a second visit to Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe, I brought my dad who 10/10 endorses the Wurst menu and Heaven & Earth mashed potatoes. I had the Champignon-Rahm Schnitzel with sautéed mushrooms, herbs, and a white wine/cream sauce. It was sensational!
