Michael’s Tasting Room is tucked inside one of the historic buildings on the side street of the Pedestrian Mall at 25 Cuna Street in downtown St. Augustine, Florida. They offer a seasonal menu, cozy courtyard, and superb wine listing.
Why We Went: While touring the busy pedestrian area surrounding St. George street, we broke off to have an upscale lunch. Michael’s Tasting Room had an interesting look and phenomenal menu posted outside.
What We Had: I chose the MTR (Michael’s Tasting Room) Burger, house ground Angus beef with bleu cheese crumbles which I paired with a side of tomato jam. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and the bleu cheese was top quality. My husband had the Shrimp and Grits and the creaminess was “all that and a bag of chips”. The presentation was fabulous!
Best Part of the Meal: The chef stopped by our table to personally check and see if we were enjoying our food; twice.
Bonus: Fridays have live music in the courtyard from 6-9PM.
What Needs Improvement: Honestly, nothing, but I would add that tomato jam to the MTR burger all the time.
Something Special: The Caesar salad at Michael’s Tasting Room was anything but typical and it was topped with a delicious crispy slice of Serrano ham. Great idea!
Total Check Before Tip: some things are better left unsaid.
My Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest): 10
