Our List Of Must Have 0-6 Month Baby Gear
It’s no secret that babies are hard work! But, there are some products that can help make your life a little bit easier. Here is our must have 0-6 month baby gear, helping with bath time, feeding, and getting your little one to sleep, based on our experience with my daughter Scarlett.
Whether you’re looking to buy for your own child or purchase a baby gift for a friend, our must have 0-6 month baby gear list is full of ideas!
I bathed Scarlett in the Angelcare Baby Bath Support in the bath tub. It does a great job of keeping her in one spot.
We didn’t buy this Bath Mat until Scarlett was 6 months old, and it immediately made bath time so much easier. She (and the bath support) wasn’t slipping around in the bathtub anymore. I wish we would have bought it MUCH sooner!
I was worried about running the water too hot for Scarlett’s baths, so we bought a duck bath thermometer.
We started using Dr. Brown’s Options Bottles when we brought Scarlett home from the NICU. They instantly helped with her gas. She still had some tummy trouble, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as it had been. Dr. Brown’s bottles have five of parts, so it’s a lot to wash at the end of the day, but we really like them.
The Dr. Brown’s Deluxe Baby Bottle Warmer works perfectly with the Dr. Brown’s Bottles listed above. It does take some trial and error to get your bottle warmed to the right temperature (as the guide is very vague and only lists timing recommendations for 4 and 8 ounces of milk).
We use the Boon Lawn Countertop Drying Rack for all of Scarlett’s bottles. It keeps everything upright, organized, and does a great job of drying the item completely–inside and out. We put it in the dishwasher once a week to make sure it stays clean.
DockATot Deluxe+ is the ultimate docking station for your baby. It’s great for napping, co-sleeping, tummy time, nursing, playing, and traveling. The design creates a snug and soothing environment for your baby, mimicking the womb. The DockATot is pricy, but I think it’s worth it. Scarlett co-slept in her DockATot with us for several weeks and then we used it to transition into her crib.
Scarlett LIVES for her 7:00 bedtime. It took some trial and error (and a lot of witching hour evenings) before we found that 7:00 (on the dot!) is when Scarlett is ready to go to bed. Once we transitioned Scarlett into her crib, the Nested Bean Zen Swaddle helped her sleep better and longer.
When Scarlett was done being swaddled, we started using the Nested Bean Zen Sleep Sack. At 11 months old, Scarlett is still sleeping in her Zen Sack.
0-6 Month Baby Toys
Scarlett liked being able to sit up in her Bumbo Floor Seat when she was just a few months old. We primarily used it for playing and paired it with the Bumbo Stages Safari Adjustable Play Center. She LOVED the play center! It was the first toy she played with, and the only toy she would play with for several weeks. The Stages Safari has 9 sensory toys that encourage hand-eye coordination and teach cause and effect.
When Scarlett outgrew the Floor Seat, we started using the Bumbo Multi Seat. It has a 3-in-1 design that grows with your baby, used as a floor seat, highchair, or booster. The accompanying tray stores on the back of the seat when not in use.
We paired the Bumbo Multi Seat with the Playtop Safari. It has a colorful book with mirrored pages, elephant toy, bead maze encouraging motor skill development, and cup holder. The suction cups on the bottom make it perfect to use on highchairs or out at restaurants, too. Best of all, it can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
More 0-6 Month Baby Toys
I love toys that can be used for long periods of time–and the Infantino Grow-With-Me Activity Gym And Ball Pit is one of them! What starts as an activity gym for babies turns into a sensory-stimulating ball pit for toddlers. It also comes with four adorable hanging toys: a peek-a-boo mirror, grasping ring, textured teether, and rattle. Your little one will love playing with this from birth until they’re several years old, while you will be glad it’s so versatile.
Scarlett adored her Skip Hop Explore & More Roll-Around Hedgehog.
Every baby I have ever known has had a Sophie the Giraffe. When I went to buy one for Scarlett, I nearly fell on the floor after I saw the more than $20 price tag. Since it was so highly recommended, I sucked it up and bought it. We’ve certainly gotten our use out of it!
Scarlett smiled every time she saw the Baby Einstein Ocean Glow Shaker light up. It came in handy for taking pictures on numerous occasions.
A Wubbanub is a pacifier with a small stuffed animal on the end of it. It’s easier to keep track of and gives your baby something to hold on to. Buy several. You will need them!
Scarlett has enjoyed playing with the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Magical Lights Fishbowl and I really like the songs.
Originally, we used the Disney Baby Minnie Mouse Bouncer as a place to put Scarlett when we needed to get something done, but it turned into her seat when she wanted to sit up. We didn’t really use the toy bar–we set the Bumbo Playtop Safari on it for her to play with instead.
We were given the Fisher Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym as a gift from friends, and it was the best give we received. Scarlett LOVED this toy!
I wish that I would have found Nena & Nene’s Large Disposable Changing Pads sooner! They are perfect for public changing stations because you throw them away when you’re finished, have three layers of protection, and are large enough to cover the whole area where your baby will be laying. You can also use Nena & Nene’s Disposable Changing Pads to change your baby at home or to protect your furniture from wet/hot baby items. If you worry about germs like me, these are a diaper bag must have!
Scarlett will only nap during the day if she’s being held, so we have used the Boppy every day of her life. It gives your arms and back relief while holding your baby–and also doubles as a nursing pillow, tummy time mat, and support for learning to sit up.
The Dual Comfort Britax B-Agile 3 & B-Safe 35 Travel System is on our must have 0-6 month baby gear list because it makes traveling with your little one easy. It combines the safety of the Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat and the lightweight maneuverability of the B-Agile 3 Stroller to create a system that is perfect for life on the go. Simply Click & Go to switch between the car and stroller. The Dual Comfort System is only available at Target.
