My Most Exciting Travels of 2014
My travels of 2014 were absolutely amazing. I am blessed to be traveling the world and blogging about it as a career.
Here is a list of my very best travel days of the entire year. I hope your year was as good as mine. Which of my travels would you prefer to take?
#1 Copenhagen, Denmark
I love walking along the canals and seeing the historic sights in Copenhagen. It is one of the most picturesque cities I have ever been to as well as a European cultural gem.
#2 Boquete, Panama
My husband is doing business in Boquete so we have spent much time in Boquete in 2014. The best part was working at the Amigos de Animales monthly animal spay and neuter clinics. I fell in love with every animal that came through the line.
#3 Stockholm, Sweden
My best friend Jo and I cruised the Baltic capitals earlier this year and loved beautiful Stockholm. Our excursion took us to visit the Nordic C Hotel and Ice Bar. They swaddled us in heavy coats, gloves, and hats. We were then led into the permanent ice structure and given a sampling of vodka drinks. It was cheesy as can be, but great fun!
#4 Roatan, Honduras
This travel day was special because my youngest daughter Peyton and I visited a Caribbean island that was new to both of us. Roatan, a relatively new cruise port, is owned by the cruise line company. Peyton and I ventured out to explore the entire island with a private guide and definitely we liked what we saw.
#5 Nashville, Tennessee
CMA Music Festival is a four day country music festival in Nashville, that my daughters and I have attended for the past four years. It is the crème de la crème of country music. Our favorite musicians are always there including Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, and throwback artist Alabama. It is our mother/daughter tradition and I would not trade it for anything.
#6 Berlin, Germany
Though Berlin was not one of my favorite cities, I love Germany itself maybe more than any other European country. My friend Jo and I spent the day in Berlin touring everything possible. Our five minute stop at Checkpoint Charlie, where we had the craziest photos made plus stamped our own passports, proved to be one of the funniest travel moments we have ever had together. The sight of us as we ran down the streets to not miss our bus was Youtube worthy.
#7 Eastern Caribbean Cruise
My best travel friends and I booked a cruise to the Caribbean because the rates were so attractive. Cruising on the Ruby Princess proved to be a week full of fun, frolic, laughter, and many new memories. I especially enjoyed being invited to the Platinum member functions and meeting the entire crew. Our day in St. Thomas,USVI was spent on a private yacht with food, drinks, and snorkeling.
#8 Walt Disney World
My family took an Orlando, Florida Disney holiday trip to Magic Kingdom. We were able to share in the Christmas parades, decorations, ride rides, and capture the memories with all of our favorite Disney princesses and characters. Making magical memories at Disney is very easy to do.
#9 Rio Hato, Panama
Rio Hato was a favorite travel day because my husband treated us to a weekend getaway when our daughter Taylor and her boyfriend, Blake visited. The JW Marriott at Rio Hato was a nice way to break up the drive between Boquete and Panama City, plus the service and digs were impeccable. The swimming pools alone were enough to write home about.
#10 Tallinn, Estonia
This was a cruise port on our Baltic Capitals cruise. Here, I fell in love with the medieval dream city of Tallinn, Estonia. In fact, I loved the charm and heritage factor so much, that many of my new bucket list destinations include the Baltic countries of Eastern Europe so I can see how they measure up.
#11 St. Petersburg, Russia
The most magnificent of all my 2014 travels was a two-day visit to St. Petersburg, Russia. In 24 hours total, I toured the richest museums, historic palaces, and learned so much history that my brain was fried. St. Petersburg was the most opulent city I have ever seen and I loved every minute of it!
#12 Hot Springs, Virginia
A rainy day in the country turned into a last minute road trip to the iconic Omni Homestead Resort with friends and family for afternoon tea on their huge wraparound porch. We strolled around their ritzy hotel, shopped in their upscale stores, and toured the immaculate grounds. Impromptu trips always prove to be so much fun.
#13 Oxford, Mississippi
We visited our daughter Taylor on her birthday and shared the ultimate “Grove” experience during the big game between Ole Miss and Alabama. This was my first experience at The Grove and I loved every fancy minute of it. Hotty Toddy!
What was your best travel memory in 2014?
I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store! Safe travels friends.
