My family has been making the Peanut Blossoms cookie recipe since I can remember, like 1974-’75. You know, that soft round peanut butter cookie with the Hershey kiss in the center? Well, here is my mom’s recipe…and hers are the best.
Want to know why? There is a secret to making Peanut Blossom cookies soft and silky, but you’ll have to read on to see how to do that.

Peanut Blossoms Cookie Recipe

Cookie Ingredients
- 1 cup Crisco shortening
- 1/2 cup + 1 TBSP creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs (room temp)
- 1/4 cup milk (if needed)
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- white sugar (for rolling)
- 2 (9 ounce) bags of Hershey Kisses, unwrapped

Did You Know? You can also make these in a mini-muffin pan (same size dough ball) and insert mini-Reese Cups in them rather than Hershey Kisses?
We tend to make one recipe and split into 2 different cookies: Peanut Blossoms and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cookies. They are both equally delicious.

Baking Directions for Peanut Blossoms
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup white sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs (by hand) one at a time. Add vanilla.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir dry mix into the peanut butter mixture until well blended. If needed, use the milk as needed, for a consistency that can be rolled and not too crumbly.

4. Roll cookie dough into balls and then drop into a baggie or shallow bowl of white sugar. Toss around until cookie is covered. Place dough balls on ungreased cookie sheet 2″ apart.
5. Bake 8-9 minutes. Remove from oven and top with Hershey Kiss (we often add two because they are so good!).

6. And now for the secret…you wouldn’t believe the difference in these cookies verses those who do not bake them with the chocolate Hershey Kiss or Reese cup in them.
Return the cookie sheet to the oven and bake 3 to 4 additional minutes. Remove from oven and let cool about 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack and cool completely.
Enjoy!
