CoCo Key Water Resort
Orlando, Florida is full of hotels and trying to pick one can be a daunting task. After staying at many properties in the area, I can say that CoCo Key is an excellent option. This “cruise ship on land” has everything that you could possibly need for your stay and you can even hang out with the resort’s red parrot, CoCo. Quit endlessly searching for somewhere to stay, and pick CoCo Key. Your family will thank you!
Let’s start off by talking about CoCo Key’s most famous feature. Totaling 54,000 square feet, this water park is huge! Half of the equipment is outside while the rest is covered; a little Florida rain will not ruin your trip as there is plenty to do inside. There are 14 water slides, an interactive play area with a tipping bucket, and pools for toddlers and teens. Parents can lay out in the sun or sit at a table and watch their children play. As if all of that was not enough, CoCo Key also has an outdoor hot tub and full size heated pool on the other side of the hotel.
To access the water park, you will need the armband given to you at check-in.
More Fun For The Kids
CoCo Key is home to a 6500 square foot arcade. Here, you can find popular arcade games (Guitar Hero, Wheel of Fortune, Dance Dance Revolution), pool tables, air hockey, and a two-lane bowling alley. Any tickets won in the arcade can be redeemed for cool prizes.
At check-in, you will be given an entertainment schedule for the week. Some of the activities listed are movies, breakfast with CoCo, and arts and crafts. For an additional fee, your children can decorate cookies/brownies, make sock puppets and sand art, and create their own pizza. Parents, do not feel left out as CoCo Key offers a WINE Down for adults. Refer to your schedule for times and locations.
There is a 1,000 square foot fitness center onsite with state-of-the-art equipment. Rooms are available for birthday parties or business meetings and CoCo key can even cater the event. A Guest Services desk can help you make plans while the business center provides complimentary printing. There is Wi-Fi throughout the resort. CoCo Key is home to 391 spacious rooms, some of which are even hypoallergenic.
Situated on Orlando’s International Drive, CoCo Key’s location is perfect whether you are in town to sightsee, shop, or visit theme parks. It is 2 miles from Universal, 4 from SeaWorld, 2 from the convention center, and 9 from Walt Disney World.
CoCo Key is a Universal Partner Hotel, providing a shuttle to Universal and SeaWorld. Transportation to Walt Disney World is available for an additional fee.
There are four onsite restaurants at the resort. Tradewinds is CoCo Key’s signature restaurant, offering a daily hot breakfast buffet. The casual Callaloo Grill serves sandwiches, salads, wings, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and chicken. The menu is quite large and even offers a a family meal pizza deal. Typical convenience store items can be found at Gators Grab & Go, including souvenirs, an item left at home, or food to take back to the room. Purchase a “zippy cup” here, giving you unlimited refills during your stay at the resort. Wet Rooster Tiki Bar is perfect for parents who want to enjoy a cocktail while their children play at the water park.
There are a plethora of restaurant within walking distance of the resort (on International Drive) should you prefer to go out.
Our Wonderful Stay
My mom (Melody) and I spent two nights at CoCo Key during a press trip to Orlando. We could not have been happier with our accommodations! Our room was huge and inside of the center building; we appreciated having plenty of room for the two of us and our luggage. The vanity outside of the bathroom proved to be most useful and the mini fridge allowed us to keep cold bottled water on hand. Parking was free (and plentiful!) and we were in a central location for everything that we did while in Orlando.
Our staff interactions at CoCo Key were great. The woman in charge of our check in gave us a large map of the property, taking time to write the water park and restaurant hours on it. I walked around to take pictures and ended up getting lost. I asked a staff member for directions and she walked me back to my building, talking to me the whole way. The friendly staff at CoCo Key played a large part in making our stay wonderful.
The Whole Family Will Love CoCo Key
CoCo Key’s slogan, “we make kids happy”, could not be more accurate. Parents will enjoy this resort because it is affordable and gives their children plenty to do. Couples will enjoy taking a break from reality at this fun spot. The next time you vacation in Orlando, Florida, don’t stay in another boring hotel; opt to stay at the CoCo Key Water Resort and let the family enjoy all that it has to offer.
