Painting with a Twist
Does your area have a Painting with a Twist? These popular art studios seem to be popping up all over the place. After one visit, I can see why.
My husband, Blake, and I attended a Painting with a Twist class on one of our date nights. We had a blast! Blake and I both agree that this is the best date night activity in the Jackson, Mississippi area. We created something unique and had a blast doing it. We cannot wait to go back!
About Painting with a Twist
Painting with a Twist has been around since 2007. Originally called “Corks N Canvas”, Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney opened in an effort to rebuild a community devastated by Hurricane Katrina. In their Mandeville, Louisiana studio, Cathy and Renee combined painting with friends, wine, and a lively instructor. It was a hit!
Today, there are 325 Painting with a Twist locations in 37 states. It is perfect for painting alone or with friends, on date night or a birthday party, for bachelorette parties, with children, or as a corporate activity. Bring something to drink and let Painting with a Twist take care of the rest.
Painting with a Twist’s Flowood, Mississippi location opened in January 2017. The studio is very bright and colorful as art hangs on all of the walls. There are two rooms so two classes can happen simultaneously. A red carpet area allows guests to have their picture made with their group and paintings when finished. What a great way to document your time at Painting with a Twist!
Blake and I picked up a bottle of wine and headed to Flowood’s Painting with a Twist. From the moment that we stepped through the door, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We loved the store’s fun ambiance and that music was playing. We found our seats and prepared to paint, something that neither one of us is good at.
When everyone arrived, James walked us through Painting with a Twist’s rules and what we would be making (two fish kissing). He told us to paint as closely to the model as we wanted or not at all; it was our painting. Step by step, James led us though the paining in a fun and entertaining way. Throughout the evening we played games and laughed, a lot. The music and laughter made for a very relaxed atmosphere; painting was fun and not stressful.
Blake and I were surprised by how much we enjoyed our evening at Painting with a Twist. We expected to have fun… but not this much fun! It was a great experience and we will definitely be back. We love how our fish turned out.
