Boquete’s Sugar and Spice
Why We Went: Sugar and Spice is one of the busiest restaurants in Boquete, Panama; and my husband’s favorite for breakfast. We often frequent it of the mornings and buy at least one loaf of their delicious breads a week.
What We Had: Chicken chilaquiles and the Ultimate Breakfast Burrito on one visit, Ultimate Santa Fe Ranchero and Denver Omelet on another.
Something Special: Your choice of either tea or coffee comes with most breakfasts. I love that the waiter brings over the box of tea bags for you to select the kind you want. They then bring your teapot and all the necessities.
Noteworthy: Sugar and Spice has many take home items including a wide variety of muffins and pastries, loaves of breads, desserts, quiche, soups, and sandwiches. Their prices are very reasonable.
Best Part of the Meal: After ordering at Sugar and Spice’s counter, chose a seat and the wait staff will deliver your meal to you. Servers are highly attentive and clear tables immediately after someone leaves to keep the restaurant clean and tables available. To say their service exceeds typical Boquete standards would be accurate.
Bonus: Sugar & Spice has free Wi-Fi!
Impressive to Me: The owner of Sugar and Spice sets a great example, working side by side with his staff, and most every time I have been in the restaurant. He has a friendly personality and displays a great work ethic. Plus, Sugar and Spice sometimes plays country music.
What Needs Improvement: For me, the breakfast dishes need more flavor. I understand that Sugar and Spice caters more toward the Panamanian crowd, which does not prefer much spice or bold flavors, but I do. They also need more sauce on the breakfast burritos as they are sometimes a little on the dry side.
Total Check Before Tip: $16 for 2 breakfasts and a loaf of Country French bread to take home.
My Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)= 7 1/2

This looks different and tasty too!
Best breakfast in town, best variety of sandwiches in town, best pastries anywhere! Rated 10 in my book.
Awesome! My husband is a huge fan of their pastries and muffins. I have not tried any sandwiches, which would you recommend?
I hope there is no limit on the Ultimate Breakfast Burrito? Because I would have to eat two of them at one sitting! Great review, the food looks good!
Thanks so much Bobby! 😉
Our favorite there is the French Press coffee!
Eddie and I are not coffee drinkers but they do have our favorites, too. 😉 (Diet Coke) LOL
