The Living Room is a pet-friendly restaurant in the heart of Dunedin I had been dying to try for quite some time. I finally had the opportunity to have lunch there and it was so delicious, I felt I must share.
Upscale Dining at Dunedin’s The Living Room
The Living Room is a cozy restaurant that is nicely decorated and with a welcoming energy. A huge outdoor patio awaits you and your pet if you so choose to bring them. There is even a special pet menu with healthy entrees, such as Grilled Salmon and Rice for $7.
We were promptly greeted after being seating and our waitress informed us of the specials. The Living Room’s menu is not huge, but it was still hard choosing our meal because everything sounds heavenly. We finally selected the Chicken Salad Sandwich, paired with Penne Pasta Salad, the “special of the day” Burger, with Avocado, BBQ Sauce, Grilled Peppers, and Pepperjack Cheese, and the 1/2 soup/sandwich combo including the Lentil Soup (soup of the day) and the Mojo Pork Panini Sandwich.
The The Living Room’s Chicken Salad came out standing about 5″ tall and on toasted rye bread. It was made with dried cherries, sliced apples, green and red grapes, and toasted almonds. How can you miss with this one?
Big Portions, Attractive Plates, and a Big Choice of Selections
My Mojo Pork, which was half the size due to the combination I chose, was big enough to be considered a full sandwich on its own. Slow roasted mojo pork shoulder, pickled red onions, avocado, and brie on pressed Cuban bread made for a perfect choice. The Lentil soup was pleasing, but I felt needed more salt.
And finally, the special burger arrived, which made us feel like perhaps we made the wrong choice and should have gone straight for the beef. It was served with hand-cut thick and delicious fries.
Lunch items are mostly between $9-$11. Next time, I want to try the Quinoa Salad or the Chicken Monrachet Sandwich. If you are in the area, I recommend giving the Living Room a try. Lunch hours are 11-4PM Monday through Friday and gluten free options are available upon request. Saturday and Sunday feature a brunch from 10-3 PM with $4 Mimosas.
