Why We Went: The 100-year-old luxury bed and breakfast Panamonte Inn, located in Boquete, Panama, has been owned by the same family for many years. The inn offers exemplary service, impressive food and menu options, as well as the most gorgeous setting and restaurant features in the town of Boquete. You may choose to dine in the Panamonte Inn’s elegant dining room, or in their Fireside Lounge which houses two lovely wood burning fireplaces that are roaring 365 days a year. Best of all, we love their food.
What We Had: For appetizers, we started with the Beef Carpaccio (the best in town) and Chicken Empanadas. Our favorite Panamonte dinners are a traditional Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon, and we equally love both the Fettuccine with Short Ribs (caramelized onions) and Tomato Risotto with Langoustines. Fabulous!
Something Special: Save room because the Panamonte Inn has scrumptious desserts. Their Lemon Meringue Pie is silky sweet and the Strawberries and Cream are a total hit with freshly made cream!
Noteworthy: Get to Panamonte Inn early and land the seats in front of the fireplace, so romantic. There is also has a bar nibbles menu with mixed creative cocktails and appetizers.
Best Part of the Meal: Panamonte’s pasta and risotto dishes were excellent! The Fettuccine with Short Ribs was unique and incredibly rich in flavor. The sweetness of the onions balanced out the richness quite well.
Bonus: Panamonte Inn serves breakfast daily and brunch on weekends. Stop by on the weekend for Eggs Benedicts and Mimosas. The Swedish Pancakes with a side of strawberry purée are a town favorite, thin and fluffy! Pair them with crispy bacon and pure maple syrup.
What Needs Improvement: I think that Panamonte Inn needs a cocktail menu as well as to add their menu to the website.
Total Check Before Tip: $127.06 (with tip/propina) for 4 of us plus 7 glasses of wine.
My Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)= 9 1/2
