Sirata Beach Resort
One of the best vacation destinations in Florida is St. Petersburg, or St. Pete as it is more often called, with its white-sugary sand beaches and laid-back city. A timeless property, the Sirata Beach Resort is positioned on the oceanfront with every room offering a full or partial view of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Many patrons have been visiting this property for years, while others have just discovered its magical qualities. Regardless of how you found out about the Sirata Beach Resort, you’ll be excited to learn that the hotel is in the process of a $15 million renovation. That means, updated guest rooms, enhanced outdoor spaces, and a more stylish vibe to help you have the most fabulous family beach vacation ever!
For years, the Sirata Beach Resort has been providing stellar service that frequent visitors have come to know and love. On my visit, it was apparent in that they remembered the guest’s names, drink favorite, food choices, and took time to make personal small talk, not idle chit-chat. I felt like I’d been there a dozen times as they embraced me in their special brand of hospitality. I was even more impressed with Sirata’s impeccable pristine grounds.
For my stay at the Sirata Beach Resort, I was given a classic suite. My room was spacious with a separate bedroom, living room, partial kitchen, and bathroom in between with the sink in the middle. A set of sliding glass doors led to a small balcony that I could watch the sunset from. My room was impeccably clean. One of my favorite features, as usual, were high-end toiletries, plush bed linens, and complimentary bottled water.
As the rooms are renovated, and many have already been, they will be more modern, with up-to-date decor in neutral shades and pops of vibrant hues in the fabrics and artwork. A dining room table and chairs are available for dining, playing games, or spending other family moments together. Brightly colored chairs sit on the balcony for watching the tides roll in and out. Sleek flat-screen TV’s and updated kitchen appliances sealed the deal.
Sirata Beach Resort’s Restaurants
There are three restaurants on the grounds of the Sirata Beach Resort. Of course, I had to try all three! All in all, my food was really good; made with premium ingredients, tasty recipes, and attractive plate presentations.
The Compass Grille is inside of the main hotel and is the more formal dining option. Palate-pleasing appetizers, such as Crunchy Coconut Shrimp and Maryland Crabcakes, are both popular choices but my favorite was Compass Grille’s Burrata Mozzarella Salad. Yum! My salad was perfect with juicy Heirloom tomatoes and roasted peppers topped with a thick and tasty balsamic reduction. The Pan-Seared Diver Sea Scallops was my top pick for dinner, served with Mascarpone Polenta and Jalapeño Bacon Brussels Sprouts. Save room for dessert!
Harry’s Beach Bar is the most popular hangout and one that nearly everyone in St. Pete knows and loves. Situated on the oceanfront, you can hear live music every night at Harry’s while munching on your favorite bar snacks and awesome cocktails, wine, and craft beer.
Rum Runners Bar & Grille is nestled between the pool and white sand beach. It is a great place to enjoy Caribbean cocktails and typical bar fare, but also where the Sirata’s guests eat breakfast. The food is fabulous, the scenery impeccable, and you may even see a squirrel sneak a shot of coffee creamer like I did. During my stay, I enjoyed both a classic omelet and Shrimp & Grits.
The Sirata Beach Resort’s property has an outdoor fireplace and cozy seating arrangement over to the side. They will even break out portable heaters if you need one.
The Sirata offers daily activities, including yoga on the beach, arts and crafts, and trivia. You can find them in the newsletter at the front desk and on the TV in the hallways of each building. Huge crowds gather daily for sunsets; you have the best seat in Florida right here at the Sirata Beach Resort. The West coast of Florida gets dazzling sunsets, free of charge.
The Sirata Beach Resort’s location gives you direct access to water sports activities and rentals. Guests can rent chairs and beach umbrellas, book shelling cruises and dolphin watches, rent jet-skis, and much more.
A gym and game room are onsite at the Sirata Resort. Use a complimentary bicycle to venture down to the beach or around town. During my four day stay at the Sirata Beach Resort, I did not once see any trash anywhere. The staff is on top of their game keeping things tidy and pristine.
Sirata’s swimming pool and whirlpool are so inviting, with great views of the ocean as well. There are cabanas available for rent that come stocked with fresh fruit and soda/water/juices. I highly recommend booking one. At the pool, servers will take your food and drink orders for your convenience. An onsite sundries shop is steps away serving ice cream treats, packaged snacks, candy, chips, and fresh coffee drinks. They also have a nice selection of pool toys, accessories, magazines, books, and souvenirs.
