Picture this: twinkling lights, spirited performances, and a cozy mountain town vibe that feels like a warm hug. Welcome to Christmas in Branson, MO, where holiday magic becomes a delightful reality. Nestled in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, Branson transforms into a winter wonderland each December, drawing in visitors with its unique blend of festive cheer and family fun.
Whether you’re a veteran traveler, a family seeking adventure, or a foodie hunting for your next great meal, Branson has a little something wrapped up just for you. Come along as I share the delightful escapades from my recent holiday trip to Branson.
My daughter and I were hosted on a holiday Branson FAM trip to experience these holiday offerings. As always, opinions and reviews are 100% mine and unbiased.
A Theatrical Delight at Sight & Sound Theatre
When I first heard the name Sight & Sound Theatre, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But, oh my stars, was I in for a surprise! If you’re a fan of Broadway like me, you will fall head over heels for the “Miracle of Christmas” performance.
Imagine a show where fabulous costumes meet 180-degree sets and live animals add a layer of charm.
The songs are catchy, the script is touching, and the entire spectacle is nothing short of mesmerizing. I dare you to leave this show not fully excited for the true meaning of Christmas.
Sight & Sound’s theater has a charming snack bar keeps you fueled, and their stuffed holiday camels are the perfect souvenirs for the little ones. Trust me, this is a show you don’t want to miss—Broadway in the Ozarks, if you will!
An Evening of Enchantment at Silver Dollar City
If you’re looking for a place that captures the essence of Christmas, Silver Dollar City is your go-to. Arrive around 3 PM to make the most of your day. Ride the roller coasters like Time Traveler in the dark for a thrilling twist.
Hop aboard the vintage steam train for a sing-along session and a heartwarming Christmas message about Christ’s birth from Grandpa. This is just one of the fabulous offerings at An Old Time Christmas, a six-time winner of America’s Best Holiday Event with 6.5 million lights.
Also, be on the lookout for the tastes of the season, specialty treats created just for the holidays.
Rudolph’s Holly Holly Christmas Light Parade is a must-see, featuring characters like Rudolph, Yukon Cornelius, and of course Santa Claus. If you only have time for one show at Silver Dollar City, make it “A Dickens’ Christmas Carol.”
I’m not usually a fan, but this performance will melt any Scrooge’s heart. You’ll want to relive this hour of brilliance over and over again. I am still talking about this performance days later.
Christmas Wonderland at King’s Castle Theatre
Step into a world of glitz and glamour at the Christmas Wonderland in the King’s Castle Theatre. With tickets priced around $50, this two-hour show is packed with upbeat choreography and classic Christmas songs. It feels like a slice of Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular, complete with a jolly Santa.
The theater’s fully wheelchair-accessible facilities ensure everyone can enjoy the show without a hitch.
Another city to consider on your travels is nearby Springfield, cram packed with fun attractions and on historic Route 66.
Dine in Style on the Showboat Branson Belle
If dinner and a show are your idea of perfection, hop aboard the Showboat Branson Belle, known for its delicious food and comfortable seating. This dinner cruise is bound to be a hit with the entire family. While I missed it this time, I’ve heard rave reviews, and it’s definitely on my list for next year.
A Drive-Through Light Show at Shepherd of the Hills
Cap off your evening with a drive through the stunning light display at Trail of Lights inside Shepherd of the Hills. This magical experience is rooted in how Branson became today’s beloved tourist destination. I particularly liked the Christmas movie TV sets near the end of the route.
Or, opt for the “Let There Be Lights” spectacular at Branson’s Promised Land Zoo. With two miles of animated LED displays, a holiday market, and a petting zoo, it’s a joyful ride for the entire family.
Branson Landing’s Dazzling Christmas Tree and Fountain Show
For an extra sprinkle of holiday cheer, head over to Branson Landing. Here, you’ll find a magnificent 63′-tall animated Christmas tree sponsored by The Bank of Missouri. It is a gorgeous free offering.
The nearby Branson Landing Water Fountain Show, with its choreographed music and lights, offers a delightful spectacle not to be missed. And the best part? Free parking is available on the north and south ends of Branson Landing. They both run November 2nd through January 4th.
Cozy Lodging at Westgate Branson Woods Resort
Looking for a cozy place to rest your head after a day of festive fun? The Westgate Branson Woods Resort is a spectacular choice. We adored our spacious room with mountain views, a full kitchen, washer & dryer, and an oversized soaking tub.
This resort has everything from indoor and outdoor pools to a pizza parlor and Starbucks marketplace. And yes, it’s pet-friendly, so bring your furry friend (note the $150 pet fee). Both my daughter and I appreciated the resort’s endless amenities and free parking.
Ride the Branson Ferris Wheel for Epic Views
Before you leave, make sure to ride the Branson Ferris Wheel. The breathtaking holiday light views will be the cherry on top of your Branson Christmas adventure. Whether you stay in the main lodge or opt for a private villa, the experience is magical.
Conclusion
Branson, MO, is the perfect holiday getaway, offering a blend of heartwarming charm and holly-jolly fun. From captivating shows to mesmerizing light displays and cozy accommodations, it truly has something for everyone.
