My Heavenly Room
Since I visited The Paxton with my daughter, the innkeeper graciously gave us the Blue Suite, which included two queen bedrooms. A stately curved stairway with stellar wood floors made its way up to the second floor, where our room was located. Lugging a suitcase was a bit of a chore, but worth the energy because what was waiting for me was sheer bliss. As we walked in the bright blue painted room, a beautiful four-poster bed greeted us, along with comfy chairs, precious china hanging everywhere, and a romantic fireplace. A small corridor, that connects the two bedrooms, offered ample storage and amenities such as an iron, ironing board, and plush robes. The second bedroom, significantly smaller, was tastefully decorated and cozy. My favorite thing about the well-appointed rooms were the awesome linens and pillows that covered both beds.
Our bathroom was on the small side, but the premium choice toiletries (Gilchrist & Soames) more than made up for it. We also had a nice soaking tub along with a shower.
Serving A Perfect Breakfast
The Paxton guests are privy to appetizing breakfast that is gorgeous and every bit as tasty. Locally-sourced items are used when possible to promote healthy eating habits and support local businesses. Speaking of breakfast, The Paxton’s blue-and-white antique China is stunning. One of our breakfasts was a scrumptious breakfast frittata with crispy bacon and velvety cheese grits while the other was our choice of eggs with salmon or pancakes. Yogurt, coffee, juice, fresh fruit, and pastries were always available. You will definitely want to Instagram your meal! Homemade treats, wine, bottled water, and sodas are available all day long. Be sure to grab one of Carol’s tasty gluten-free cookies for a great evening snack.
