What I’m Watching Right Now
Summer TV is not the greatest. There are a few good shows on but most of them are off the air until the Fall. Luckly, Netflix has a never ending selection of shows to choose from. It is a full time job keeping up with “My List” on Netflix, DVR recordings, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit marathons on USA. Here are five shows that I am watching right now.
Younger follows the life of Liza Miller, a single-mom who lied about her age to land a job in publishing. Now, she is stuck pretending to be in her 20’s to keep her job and the friends that she has made there while juggling her “old” life (that includes a very odd ex-husband and college age daughter).
Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff, Nico Tortorella, Peter Hermann, Miriam Shor, Debi Mazar
Although I started watching Younger solely because Hilary Duff was a cast member, I have fallen in love with it. This is my favorite show that I am watching right now. Younger just kicked off its fourth season and it is already the best one yet. I am hoping that Liza will FINALLY choose to be with Charles and let her relationship with Josh go (although I definitely want him to stay on the show!).
For unknown reasons, a camera crew follows the employees of a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania documenting the craziness that takes places from 9-5 and the many personalities that work within the office.
Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, Kate Flannery, Creed Bratton, Oscar Nuñez, BJ Novak, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, Paul Lieberstein, Ellie Kemper
My husband, Blake, decided that his next Netflix binge was going to be The Office. I had no interest in this show and worked on the blog while he started watching it…After three episodes, I was sitting with him on the couch. The Office is hilarious; you think it can’t get any funnier, and then it does. We just started season six and I have gone back and re-watched Jim and Pam’s wedding four times. LOL
The West Wing
The West Wing depicts the lives of those working within the West Wing of the White House. The show follows the staffers’ personal lives while they simultaneously run the country.
Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, John Spencer, Bradley Whitford, Dulé Hill, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Stockard Channing
Jed Bartlet makes a great president! I started watching The West Wing back in November and have just made it to season five. I don’t know why I put this show on the back burner so often; it is great! Think, House of Cards but not as dramatic and the President is actually a nice guy at baseline.
I was REALLY sad to see Rob Lowe go, but after reading his book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, I understand why he left the show.
This show is about country music singers living in Nashville, Tennessee. It originally started as a rivalry between an old and new country music star, but it has evolved into much more than just that one storyline. There are A LOT of people to keep up with!
Hayden Panettiere, Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella, Connie Britton, Chris Carmack, Eric Close, Will Chase
Nashville used to be my favorite show on TV. Although I still enjoy it, I do not think it is nearly as good as it was a few seasons ago. Although I bawled my eyes out when Rayna James was killed off, I wasn’t a big fan (she will always be Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights!). Deacon and Juliette make this show for me.
Rachel Lindsay is trying to find love after striking out with the most recent Bachelor.
I got really into The Bachelor during Ben Higgins’ season. Naturally, I had to watch the following season of The Bachelorette to see if JoJo would find love. Then, I fell down the Bachelor in Paradise rabbit hole. I can’t stop watching; this franchise is literally a train wreck.
As with most of America, I was really disappointed that Nick Viall was chosen to be the Bachelor, but I sucked it up and watched it anyway. Nick sent Rachel home, and now she is the Bachelorette.
This might be the “most dramatic season yet” but it sucks. We aren’t getting rose ceremonies at the end of episodes and it’s on one week and not on the next. Seriously, I am losing interest and I don’t know if I like any of these guys enough to stick around and watch the next season of The Bachelor. I’ve invested too much time to quit watching now, but I find myself cleaning while I watch the latest episode.
That’s What I’m Watching Right Now!
Wow, I am really invested in my TV shows… and those are only five of them! I also just finished watching Shameless, Bloodline, The Ranch, and Santa Clarita Diet. The new seasons of Master of None, Orange Is The New Black, House of Cards, and Kimmy Schmidt are all on my list, too (Netflix rules!).
If you have any suggestions of what I should watch next, please let me know!
